The upcoming NFL season is rapidly approaching and because of that, the early betting odds for some of the hottest offensive categories are starting to come out. Here we are going to be going over four of the best bets to lead the league in passing yards during the 2021 season. Deshaun Watson led this category last season; will he be able to do it again or is it time for a new king?
Patrick Mahomes
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes leads the current betting odds in this category for the second consecutive year now. While he wasn’t able to defeat Watson in this category last season, losing by 84 total passing yards, he was still a very close second. Mahomes has already proven to be one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league and has been a generational type of player already. He also has the perfect weapons to compliment him with the speedster Tyreek Hill and arguably the best tight end in the game with Travis Kelce. With the Chiefs focusing on improving the offensive line in the offseason, he could have even more time to sit back and launch some bombs.
Josh Allen
Josh Allen took a massive leap in his development last season with the Buffalo Bills. He went from inconsistent play all the way to a spot in the AFC Championship game after the team decided to trade for an establish wide receiver for him to throw the football to in Stefon Diggs. The combination between Allen and Diggs was lethal all season long, with teams rarely able to stop it. With Allen getting another season to develop and gain some more chemistry with his wideouts, he has a terrific shot at ending the year with the most passing yards.
Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott may be considered a long shot by some due to this season behind his first game back with a new contract and a completely restructured ankle, but he definitely has the tools to lead the league in passing yards. If Prescott comes out of the gates healthy and confident like we were able to see at the beginning of last season before his injury, then he could be on pace for a historic season. The Dallas Cowboys have given him a multitude of weapons to work with in Ceedee Lamb, Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. Dak could make this offense a whole new beast in 2021.
Justin Herbert
Justin Herbert is only in his second season in the NFL but could be a fun bet to win the passing yards category this season. He looked fantastic in his rookie year, nearly breaking Andrew Luck’s record of most passing yards in their rookie season in just 15 games played. The team also picked up Jared Cook, a far more reliable option than the often-injured Hunter Henry. Herbert could set the league on fire this season as long as this offensive line is able to hold up and keep him protected.
