Only one non-quarterback has a chance to be named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player. It’s been nine years since Adrian Peterson won the 2012 NFL MVP, and only quarterbacks have won it since that point. Derrick Henry is looking to change that though, and some voters have already signaled they are ready to back a non-quarterback. Henry has been the best running back in the league for the last three years, and he led the Tennessee Titans to an upset win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football last week.

Currently, Dak Prescott is the favorite to be named NFL MVP. Prescott might be a lock to win Comeback Player of the Year after suffering a season-ending injury in 2020, and it’s his play that has the Cowboys poised to contend for a Super Bowl this year. He has two elite receivers in CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper, and this passing attack will become even more dangerous whenever Michael Gallup returns from injury.
The Arizona Cardinals are the NFL’s last unbeaten team. That has made Kyler Murray one of the frontrunners for the NFL MVP award, as Murray has dazzled in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. Anyone who doubted that Murray made the right decision by choosing football over baseball has looked foolish, as Murray is set to become the NFL’s next multi-millionaire with his next contract.
Derrick Henry is set to lead the NFL in rushing for the third straight season. Henry already has 783 yards on the ground through the first six games of the season, and he has 260 yards more than Nick Chubb entering Week 7. If Henry runs for 2,000 yards, it would be hard to deny him of the honor since he ran for over 2,000 yards in 2020.
It’s been an incredible turnaround for Josh Allen. The 2018 first-round pick was seen as a bust after his first two years in the NFL, but he was one of the best quarterbacks in the league last season. Allen threw for over 4,500 yards while leading the Buffalo Bills to the AFC Championship Game. He is having another great year at the helm of the Bills, and that has Buffalo believing it is a Super Bowl contender.
The incomparable Tom Brady is still going strong at the age of 44. Whereas the play of his contemporaries has started to fall off, Brady has found the Fountain of Youth in Tampa Bay. Brady currently leads the NFL in passing yards with 2,064 yards through the first six games of the season, and he would love to win his fourth MVP award this year.
