UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus Parlay

The last UFC event of 2021 will take place this weekend. There won’t be another UFC promotion for a month, so MMA fans are expected to flock to UFC Vegas 45 featuring Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus. Lewis is a former UFC Heavyweight Championship challenger, while Daukaus is looking to get to that level. The winner of this match might get to take on either Ciryl Gane or Francis Ngannou next summer for the championship.

UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus will close out the 2021 calendar year for Dana White and the UFC. This promotion will take place on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 7 p.m. ET from UFC Apex Training Center in Enterprise, Nevada. The entire card will be available only via ESPN Plus.

UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus Picks

Derrick Lewis +120 vs. Chris Daukaus

The last fighter to defeat current UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou was Derrick Lewis. Lewis won a unanimous decision over Francis Ngannou at UFC 226, and that led to a title shot against Daniel Cormier. He was submitted by the former champion, but he won four straight fights to lead to a showdown against Ciryl Gane at UFC 265 in August. Lewis hasn’t been good enough to claim the strap, yet he is clearly in the next tier down and is a very appetizing bet as an underdog.

Chris Daukaus comes into this fight with a lot of hype. He is 4-0 since joining the UFC, and he earned Performance of the Night bonuses for his last three finishes. Daukaus is an untested, one-dimensional fighter though. All but one of his 12 victories have come by knockout in the first two rounds, and he doesn’t have near the pedigree of his opponent. People are buying too much into the promise of Daukaus at this point.

Belal Muhammad +180 vs. Stephen Thompson

It’s been a rough last five years for Stephen Thompson. The two-time UFC Welterweight Championship challenger has lost four of his last seven fights. Thompson does have an impressive win over Jorge Masvidal under his belt, but that victory came over four years ago at this point.

Thompson does have wins over Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal in that stretch too, and those are the last two fighters that Belal Muhammad has lost to in the UFC. However, the transitive property isn’t always the best when it comes to handicapping the fight. Muhammad has shown an ability to win decisions, so he is worth a shot as a moderate underdog.

Amanda Lemos -300 vs. Angela Hill

Angela Hill has been trying to make a name for herself by taking a lot of fights over the last three years. Hill took four fights in 2019, four fights in 2020, and this will be her third fight in 2021. She was seen as an up-and-comer not too long ago, but she has since lost three of her last four bouts.

That makes Amanda Lemos a nice add-on as a big favorite. Lemos has won four straight bouts after losing her UFC debut, and she has shown she can finish a fight. It’s been a while since Hill has finished a fight within the distance, so Lemos is the play.
