Best Bets to Win the NCAA Tournament

There are 16 teams left with national championship aspirations. Everyone but Saint Peter’s has a legitimate chance to get to the Final Four, as there hasn’t been a No. 15 seed make it past the Sweet Sixteen in NCAA Tournament history. Gonzaga is the top overall seed and remains a sizeable favorite by the college basketball futures odds, but the Bulldogs are far from the best bet given their performance in the first two rounds. Instead, these are the teams you need to jump on at their current prices.

NCAA Tournament Betting Odds at BetOnline

Kansas Jayhawks +525

Kansas has the clearest path to the Final Four of any team in the NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks will face a very overrated Providence team in the Sweet Sixteen, and they will take on a double-digit seed in the Elite Eight if they beat the Friars. Ochai Agbaji has yet to play up to his potential, and he is due for some solid performances as a proven guard that can do it all. Agbaji is averaging 19.3 PPG while making 40% of his threes on the year. David McCormack is one of the best offensive rebounders in the nation, and the Jayhawks currently have the best odds to make the Final Four.

Purdue Boilermakers +900

The Boilermakers stand to be the greatest beneficiaries from the madness in March. Top seed Baylor and No. 2 seed Kentucky have both been knocked out of the East Region, and Purdue is a heavy favorite over Saint Peter’s in the Sweet Sixteen. Jaden Ivey, Sasha Stefanovic, and Trevion Williams are all solid shooters, and Zach Edey can present matchup problems at 7’4 and 295 pounds.

Texas Tech Red Raiders +1200

A lot of public money will be on Texas Tech’s opponent in the Sweet Sixteen, but there is a reason that the Red Raiders are favored over the Duke Blue Devils despite being the No. 3 seed. The Red Raiders are the sixth-rated team in the country by Ken Pomeroy’s numbers, and they were battle-tested in the tough Big 12. They have the top-ranked defense in the nation, and they should give Duke’s offense fits. The main question will be whether or not they can make their threes.

Villanova Wildcats +1400

Battle-tested is a good way to describe Villanova too. The Wildcats have won two national championships in the last seven years, and both Collin Gillespie and Jermaine Samuels were part of the most recent title winning team. This is one of the most efficient offenses in the country, and Nova had little trouble with its first two opponents. They shouldn’t have much trouble with Michigan either in the Sweet Sixteen.

North Carolina Tar Heels +2800

The longshot to like at this price is a blue blood. North Carolina is a No. 8 seed, but the Tar Heels hammered Marquette in the first round and took down top seed Baylor in the second round despite some terrible calls from the referees down the stretch. They are underdogs to UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen, but Armando Bacot and Brady Manek are two big bodies that can really frustrate opponents.
