Some of the top women in the UFC will be in the Octagon this weekend. Jessica Andrade and Amanda Lemos will meet in the main event, while Montana De La Rosa and Maycee Barber square off on the main card. Andrade is looking to solidify her spot as the No. 1 contender in the Women’s Strawweight division, while De La Rosa is hoping to move back into the rankings of the Women’s Flyweight division.
UFC on ESPN: Lemos vs. Andrade will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the UFC Apex training center in Enterprise, Nevada. The prelims will start at 6 p.m. ET and the main card will get started at 9 p.m. ET, and ESPN+ will televise the whole event.
UFC on ESPN: Lemos vs. Andrade Picks
Jessica Andrade -214 vs. Amanda Lemos
Although Jessica Andrade has lost three of her last five fights, she is still one of the top female fighters in the UFC. The former UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship holder lost title fights to Zhang Weili and Valentina Shevchenko, and her other loss was a split decision defeat at the hands of current strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. Andrade was dominant against Cynthia Calvillo and Katlyn Chookagian, as she is an elite fighter.
Amanda Lemos comes into this bout with an 11-1-1 record, but she hasn’t faced nearly the same competition that Andrade has in her career. Lemos’ best win was a split decision victory against Angela Hill in December, so she should be more of an underdog than what we currently see by the UFC betting odds. Andrade is younger and more experienced, and that’s too big of a combination to look past.
Montana De La Rosa +161 vs. Maycee Barber
It’s been a mixed bag of results for Montana De La Rosa recently. She is 2-2-1 in her last five fights, and that has led to her treading water in the flyweight division. De La Rosa was impressive in her last fight though, securing a second-round TKO over Ariane Lipski.
Maycee Barber shouldn’t be this much of a favorite after losing two of her last three fights. Barber is nicknamed The Future because she is impressive at the age of 23, but she hasn’t shown that she can go the distance on a consistent basis. She lost unanimous decisions against Roxanne Modafferi and Alexa Grasso, and she only won a split decision over Miranda Maverick last July.
Under 1.5 Rounds -280 in Alexandr Romanov vs. Chase Sherman
Neither Alexandr Romanov nor Chase Sherman was originally supposed to fight this weekend. Romanov replaced Rodrigo Nascimento last month, while Sherman was a last-minute replacement for Tanner Boser after Boser bowed out of the event with an injury on Monday.
Romanov is dominant with a record of 15-0 ahead of this fight. That has led to him being one of the biggest favorites we’ve seen in recent history at -2500 as Sherman is 15-9 in his career. The better bet is for this bout to finish in the first round though, as Romanov is a very polished fighter that should finish Sherman quickly.
