UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Emmett Parlay

It’s impossible for this week’s UFC event to match up to what we saw at UFC 275 in Singapore last week. Jiri Prochazka needed a surprising submission in the final round in order to beat Glover Teixeira, and Valentina Shevchenko was pushed to the brink by Taila Santos. While nothing we see this Saturday will quite compare to those two fights, there should be a palpable buzz in the air as this is the first time the UFC has visited Austin since February 2018. Cowboy Cerrone headlined that event, and he is in the co-main event this weekend.

UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Emmett will be held at the Moody Center on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas on Saturday, June 18, 2022. The prelims will start at 4 p.m. ET and be broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPN+, while the main event will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+.

UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Emmett Picks

Calvin Kattar by Points Over Josh Emmett +130

This is the biggest fight of Josh Emmett’s career. Emmett has only headlined a card one other time in his UFC career, and he was knocked out in the second round. He has bounced back since that defeat though with four straight wins. Emmett earned Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses during that stretch, and he is now 6-1 as a featherweight in the UFC.

Headlining a fight card is old hat to Calvin Kattar at this point. Kattar has been the main event in four of his last five fights, and he is 2-2 in those bouts. All four of those fights were decided by the judges, so it makes sense to bet this fight to go the distance. Kattar is a more well-rounded fighter than Emmett, and he should be able to win by unanimous decision.

Cowboy Cerrone by KO or TKO Over Joe Lauzon +190

There’s a distinct possibility that this is the last time we see Cowboy Cerrone in the Octagon. Cerrone hasn’t won a fight since May 2019, suffering five losses and a no contest in his six bouts since that point. He will turn 40 next March, and his career is certainly winding down.

Joe Lauzon is no spring chicken either. Lauzon has been in the UFC for over 15 years, but he hasn’t had the same success as Cerrone. Lauzon is just 15-12 in the UFC, and this will be his first fight since October 2019. This is just his second fight since November 2017, and it’s become clear that he no longer has the stamina to last three rounds.

Kevin Holland -280 vs. Tim Means

Tim Means has won three straight fights by unanimous decision, but he is a prohibitive underdog against Kevin Holland. Means is 12-6 since joining the UFC, yet Holland is an extremely good fighter. Holland won five fights in 2020 to tie a UFC record, and he is in a much better position since dropping down to welterweight.
