Thanks to the weakness of the NFC South, the Carolina Panthers remained in the playoff race down to the wire last season, in spite of firing head coach Matt Rhule halfway through their campaign and replacing him with Steve Wilks.
Wilks is now the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers and the other head coach that was fired in-season, Frank Reich, is now in command in Carolina.

Carolina Panthers 2023 Odds
2023 NFC Championship Odds: +3300
Team Wins: Over 7.5 (+105), Under 7.5 (-135)
As I am going through each team in alphabetical order, it’s interesting to look at the Panthers’ schedule after going through the Buffalo Bills’ schedule. There’s a good chance Carolina, though they should actually be a better team under Reich in his first season, will be underdogs in all their games, even when they host the Houston Texans on Oct. 29. While no team will threaten to go 0-17 this season, the Panthers could.
Of course, they won’t. While they might be dogs to the Texans when they face off, by the time their first matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rolls up on the calendar, the Panthers could enjoy their first game as a favorite. The season is going to be a slog for rookie Bryce Young, so let’s just hope he grows into the role and stays healthy. I see an 0-6 start to the season, maybe 1-5 at best with a sneaky win over the Atlanta Falcons or Seattle Seahawks. After that, it’s possible the Buccaneers and Colts are the only teams on their schedule they can defeat.
2023-23 Win Prediction: 5-12
