Just when the NFL thought it had struck gold with Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets playing on Black Friday afternoon while everybody’s mom is nursing a black eye taken from a PS5 box that morning at Walmart, fate, and the ivermectin gods, would not have it. As such, we’re getting the Miami Dolphins facing off against whatever quarterback the Jets have pulled from the Fudrucker’s grill Friday afternoon on Amazon Prime.
These teams have squared up since the Dolphins entered the old AFL back in 1966. As such, this will be the 116th all time meeting between the two franchises. Miami leads the series 58-56-1. They split their games last year as the Dolphins struggled to keep Tua Tagovailoa on the field, but Miami did win their contest in the 2022-23 season finale, 11-6, in a game Mike McDaniel would rather forget. Skyla Thompson was 20 of 31 passing for 152 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in the win. Jeffery Wilson rushed 16 times for 72 yards. Jaylen Waddle caught five passes for 44 yards.
Joe Flacco (now with the Cleveland Browns) was 18 of 33 passing for 149 yards, no TDs and no picks. Garrett Wilson caught nine passes for 89 yards.
MIAMI DOLPHINS AT NEW YORK JETS (+9.5, O/U: 40)
Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J.
Broadcast: Amazon Prime
Kickoff: Nov. 24, 3 p.m.
MIAMI DOLPHINS (7-3)
The Dolphins, like the Dallas Cowboys continued that second-tier NFL team thing where they beat a bad squad, while not owning a single victory over a winning franchise, last week. It was the Las Vegas Raiders’ turn to take their medicine as Miami won it 20-13. Tua Tagovaloa was 28 of 39 passing for 325 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He was sacked once. Raheem Mostert rushed 22 times for 86 yards. Tyreek Hill caught 10 passes for 146 yards and a score. The defense held the Raiders to 36 yards rushing, picked off Aiden O’Connell three times and sacked him twice.
NEW YORK JETS (4-6)
Zach Wilson’s tenure in New York officially came to an end last week as the Jets fell 32-6 to the rejuvenated Buffalo Bills. Wilson was 7 of 15 passing for 81 yards, one touchdown and a pick. He scrambled four times for 15 yards and was sacked five times. Breece Hall rushed 10 times for 23 yards and caught five passes for 50 yards and a TD. New York’s defense held the Bills to 130 yards on the ground, picked Josh Allen off once and sacked him once.
THE PICK
Supposedly Tim Boyle is getting the call for the Jets in this one, which means some other Subway Sandwich artist is going to have to cover his shift. Miami beats the bad teams into the dirt. New York is a bad team. Like most of the Black Friday battles happening at Targets, Walmarts and rundown shopping malls, it’ll be ugly. Dolphins 41, Jets 13
