Defending Champion, Alcaraz Favored to Repeat at Wimbledon

Carlos Alcaraz is becoming the new face of men’s tennis and goes into Wimbledon fresh off a

French Open championship and looking to defend his title at the All-England Club. This

tournament had been dominated by Novak Djokovic recently until losing last year to the

Spaniard. But his status remains unclear after withdrawing at Roland Garros, however, don’t

count him out just yet.

Carlos Alcaraz +140

Carlos Alcaraz is coming off the French Open title making the 21-year-old the youngest man to

reach a Grand Slam title match on three surfaces. And it seems to be just the beginning for the

Spaniard. With Nadal and Djokovic nearing the end of their careers, Alcaraz looks to be the

next face of the sport. He should have no problems reaching at least the quarters, then

depending on the draw, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him back in the final on Championship

Sunday.

Jannik Sinner +160

He’s steadily improved at the All-England Club in the last three years. A first round exit in 2021,

lost in the quarters in 2022 and then eliminated in the semi final last year. Could the Italian win

his second major of 2024? Jannik Sinner is coming off a final four appearance at Roland

Garros where he pushed Alcaraz. The 22-year old, who is now the number one ranked player,

could have a favorable draw with Novak Djokovic out of this tournament.

Novak Djokovic +375

If he’s cleared to play, Novak Djokovic is still a major threat. He’s won four of the last five titles

here, making the final in each year. He won 34 straight and 45 in a row on center court before

losing to Alcaraz last year. Djokovic is the best serve defender, especially on grass and has the

endurance, even at 37. He’s one Wimbledon title short of Federer’s record of 8, so he’ll do

whatever he can to play. But you know, he won’t be anywhere close to 100%.

Rafael Nadal +2200

While he’s at the young of an incredible career, and fading fast, Rafael Nadal will still get some

consideration from bettors, especially at long odds. He has won this tournament twice, albeit,

more than a decade ago (2010, 2008). In the last three Wimbledon events he’s played in, Nadal

has made it to the semi’s, he did miss a couple of years because of injury. Could the Spaniard

go out in style in what will likely be his last trip to the All-England Club?

Longshot Play

Taylor Fritz +3300

Taylor Fritz is the highest ranked American at number twelve and did make the quarters here in

2022. Fritz would need some luck in the draw but has the potential to get even further this time

around. He’s actually a better returner than given credit and can win points fairly quickly. He is

looking to become the first American to reach the final since Andy Roddick in 2009.
