NFL Futures: Five Teams with Best Odds of Starting 5-0

The countdown is well underway to Week 1 of the NFL season as many fans are rooting for their

teams to start off with a big win. But how many feel their team can start off a perfect 5-0 in the 2024

campaign? Sportsbooks have set odds on how likely it is for a team to be undefeated after five

weeks, and we’ll take a look at which teams could make it happen.

5-0 Start – Detroit Lions +600

The Lions upset the Chiefs on opening night last season and went on to win six of their first seven

games finishing with a record of 12-5 to win the NFC North. Detroit begins with four favorable

games and should be 4-0 heading into Week 5. Rams, Bucs, Cards, Seahawks are up first before a

trip to Texas to take on Dallas. The Lions lost to the Cowboys last season so if they are 4-0 at this

point, they’ll be seeking revenge from 2023.

5-0 Start – Miami Dolphins +550

Miami’s red hot offense led the team to a 3-0 start in 2023. But their shot at staying undefeated

ended in Week 4 after a loss to the Bills. The Dolphins host Buffalo in Week 2 and if they get past

that game, 5-0 is not out of the question as the next three are against the Seahawks, Titans and the

Patriots.

Kansas City Chiefs +550

To no one’s surprise the Chiefs have short odds to start 5-0. After last season’s upset loss to Detroit,

KC would win six straight before losing in Week 8 to Denver. The Chiefs open against the Ravens

and the Bengals. Two tough teams but if they can get past them, 5-0 is more than likely with games

against the Falcons, Chargers and Saints.

5-0 Start – Chicago Bears +350

This seems a bit odd given the Bears started last season 0-4. But the expectation is much greater

with Caleb Williams, the first overall pick, at the helm. First up, Tennessee. But after that, Chicago

visits C.J. Stroud and the Texans, who are considered an AFC favorite. The Colts, Rams and

Panthers are left after that, but these are the Bears so unless there’s some inside information, this

would be a line to avoid.

5-0 Start – San Francisco 49ers +140

Speaking of lines to avoid, sure the 49ers are a powerhouse and sure they may win the Super Bowl.

But at +140 that number is too low to wait five weeks to cash in. But when you look at the

opponents, it really is almost a cake walk. At home to start the season against Aaron Rodgers and

the Jets. Then Vikings, Rams, Patriots and the Cardinals. San Fran may look to get off on a big

role before a Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs in Week 7. So after further consultation, this

may be the most sure bet of the bunch.
