Last season, Dak Prescott led the NFL in passing touchdowns with 36 while Jordan Love was
second with 32. Patrick Mahomes, who led the league in this category in 2018 and 2022,
finished well back but is the favorite in 2024. But is there value outside Mahomes? We’ll break
down who has a shot, and who has an outside shot of taking this award.
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs +550
The big story in 2023 for the Chiefs, other than winning the Super Bowl was dropped passes by
receivers. Kansas City led the NFL in drop passes with 44 but Patrick Mahomes still finished
eighth with 27 touchdowns and third in completed passes. This season, Mahomes has some
new weapons in speedy rookie Xavier Worthy and veteran Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown who join
the receiving core. If Mahomes’ other receivers can cut down on their drops, he should make a
serious run at leading the league in this category.
Dak Prescott DAL +700
Dak Prescott led last season with 36 touchdowns and is poised to better that mark in 2024,
considering his contract expires after the season. He has one of the best deep threats in the
league in CeeDee Lamb and the Cowboys led the league in scoring averaging almost 30 points
per game. Prescott also finished first in completed passes and Dallas didn’t make any big
changes to his receivers so expect another big season from Dak.
C.J. Stroud, Texans +1000
After making a big splash in his rookie season, Texans quarterback CJ Stroud is looking for an
even better sophomore season. Stroud found chemistry with the likes of Tank Dell and Nico
Collins throwing for 23 touchdowns and just five interceptions. But Stroud will now have an
even bigger target as Houston acquired proven No. 1, Stefon Diggs. Look for the Texans to
allow Stroud air it out, which could give him a great shot at this title.
Longshot With A Shot
Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars +2500
The Jaguars paid Trevor Lawrence big money (5-year, $275 Million) in the offseason and maybe
that will inspire him to throw more touchdowns. Jacksonville has been throwing the ball more in
each of Lawrence’s three seasons and he should get some help at receiver with rookie Brian
Thomas and veteran Gabe Davis. Lawrence has the skill set to lead the NFL in touchdowns,
and maybe 2024 is the year it happens.
