With the regular season over, several upsets in the final week impacted the college football championship odds. With so much parity, the national title odds are wide open heading into the conference championship weekend. Let’s take a look at the latest odds.
Oregon Ducks +350
The Ducks’ best win of the season came against Ohio State, where they were able to move the ball at will against the top defense in the nation. Oregon has also defeated Illinois, Michigan on the road, and then smoked Washington in Week 14. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel has been playing great, while Jordan James has racked up 1,166 yards on the ground and scored 7 touchdowns in the last six games. The Ducks avoided the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship game and are 3.5-point favorites against Penn State. A win here, and Oregon will be the top seed in the CFP.
Texas Longhorns +425
Texas is one of only two teams to rank in the top five in both offense and defense. The Longhorns are talented on both sides of the ball, and Quinn Ewers has looked better in the past few weeks. The only loss on their resume is to Georgia, and if they beat the Bulldogs, they’ll get a bye in the CFP. Even with a loss, the Longhorns should be at worst a No. 5 seed, but that would mean an extra opponent to overcome on the way to the national championship game.
Ohio State Buckeyes +450
A one-point loss to Oregon can be tolerated, but losing to Michigan as a 19.5-point favorite still doesn’t sit well with Buckeye backers. While Ohio State is still ranked in the top five on offense and No. 1 on defense, they won’t earn a CFP bye, but they will likely host a first-round playoff game. OSU is still talented, especially on defense, and to win a national championship, that is a must. They’ll have to be better on offense, as the defensive side is built for a deep playoff run.
Georgia Bulldogs +500
The Bulldogs needed 8 overtimes to get here, beating Georgia Tech in a 44-42 shootout. Georgia looked good in wins against top teams Texas and Tennessee but had ugly losses against Ole Miss and Alabama. After four straight games with an interception, QB Carson Beck has thrown for 11 TDs and no picks in his last three games. The Dawgs face Texas in the SEC Championship game, and when healthy, this roster can compete with and beat any team in the nation.
