NFL Week 10 Games to Avoid

Once again, the three games we told you to avoid all ended up being winners. However, two of those victories ended up being rather fortunate. Seattle needed overtime to knock off Tampa Bay at home in a wild 40-34 shootout, and Buffalo needed to score a touchdown in the final three minutes to cover 9.5 points per the NFL betting odds against Washington. The only team that covered with ease was Houston, as the Texans never trailed in a comfortable 26-3 win over the Jaguars.

GAMES TO AVOID IN WEEK 10

BALTIMORE RAVENS -10 AT CINCINNATI BENGALS

Everyone loves Baltimore on the road against Cincinnati this week. The Ravens hammered New England 37-20 to deal the Patriots their worst loss of the season last Sunday night, and the Baltimore bandwagon is at a tipping point. This team should not be favored by 10 points on the road against anyone given what we have seen from the Ravens.

John Harbaugh is the best coach in the NFL off a bye week, but Baltimore was not playing that well before its bye. The Ravens were pummeled at home by Cleveland, and they needed overtime to beat Pittsburgh. Baltimore only beat Cincinnati at home by six points in the first meeting between these teams, and the Ravens also only beat Arizona by six points too.

Cincinnati is the only winless team remaining in the NFL, but the Bengals haven’t been hapless. Their point differential is better than three other teams, and five of their eight losses have been by 10 points or less.

The Bengals have had two weeks to prepare for the Ravens due to their bye week. Rookie Ryan Finley will be making his first career start, but that’s not the red flag it has been in past seasons. We have seen rookie quarterbacks thrive in their debut since opposing defensive coordinators don’t have recent film on them, and Gardner Minshew, Daniel Jones, Sam Darnold, and Kyler Murray all had nice starts. Finley has the weapons to keep this one within the football betting line.

BUFFALO BILLS +2.5 AT CLEVELAND BROWNS

The vast majority of bettors are fading Ohio’s other NFL franchise too. Since Buffalo is 6-2 and Cleveland is 2-6 many are jumping on the chance to bet the Bills on the moneyline since they are short underdogs in the Dawg Pound on Sunday. That might not be the best idea considering what we have seen from Buffalo’s offense recently though.

Opposing defenses are starting to hone in on Josh Allen’s weaknesses once again. While Sean McDermott did a good job masking the fact that Allen can’t throw the ball for the opening half of the season, he has thrown for less than 220 yards in five straight games. Allen has a big arm, but his inaccuracy on passes longer than 20 yards keeps him from testing the field too much, and defensive backs are starting to roll up to shut down the short routes.

Buffalo has yet to record an impressive win either. The best team the Bills have defeated is 4-5 Tennessee. The other five teams Buffalo has defeated are a combined 5-37, calling into question that 6-2 record.

Cleveland’s main problem this season has been turnovers. Baker Mayfield has thrown 12 interceptions through eight games, but it’s very unlikely he keeps that pace up. The Bills have a subpar run defense, and Nick Chubb should be able to gash Buffalo on the ground all day long. Don’t be surprised if Cleveland covers the pleaser number and wins by double digits.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS +6 AT SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

The Seahawks are very fortunate to be 7-2. Only two of Seattle’s seven wins have been convincing, and this team could easily be under .500 right now. We saw winless Cincinnati outplay Seattle on the road in the season opener, Tampa Bay take them to overtime last week, and Greg Zuerlein miss a field goal that would have given the Rams over the Seahawks in the Emerald City.

San Francisco is the only undefeated team left in the NFL, and this defense has been incredible. The 49ers have a great young front seven, and it’s tough to imagine the Seahawks having much success running against them.

On the other side of the ball, Seattle’s defense has not been great or even good. The Seahawks have the 27th best defense in the NFL by DVOA, so Kyle Shanahan is likely to come up with a gameplan to carve this defense up.
