NFL Week 15 Games to Avoid

While all three of the teams we told you to avoid last week ended up winning and covering the NFL betting line in the process, each of those three teams were in real danger of losing outright as favorites. Baltimore had trouble moving the ball against a staunch Buffalo defense and gritted out a 24-17 win against the Bills in northern New York. Pittsburgh relied on defense and special teams to get past Arizona 23-17 in the desert, and Cleveland was largely outplayed by Cincinnati in a 27-19 victory for the Browns. Keep that in mind when looking at games to bet this week.

GAMES TO AVOID IN WEEK 15

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -10 AT CINCINNATI BENGALS

Everyone loves the Patriots this week. The Pats are the most public play on the board with an overwhelming percentage of bets on New England, and they are the most popular teaser selection of the week too.

No one really thinks New England will lose its third straight game to a 1-12 Cincinnati team that was winless until two weeks ago. However, the Bengals have been more competitive than you might think for a team with their record, and Andy Dalton is back in the lineup in lieu of Ryan Finley.

There’s a chance that A.J. Green and John Ross III both play too. Cincinnati’s best receiver has yet to see the field this season, and Ross has been sidelined for much of the campaign. Having those two players back would give Cincinnati a significant boost, and those two receivers might find holes in this secondary with fresh legs.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS -1.5 AT LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

The Vikings are four games up on the Chargers, but they are only short favorites by the NFL betting odds on Sunday. Minnesota has been the most predictable team in the NFL in 2019. The Vikings have defeated all nine of their opponents that have losing records, while they have lost to all four teams with winning records that they have faced this year.

Philip Rivers and Los Angeles are coming off their best outing of the season though. The Chargers hammered Jacksonville last week, as Rivers looked like the gunslinger of old in the blowout win. This defense has played much better since 2018 Defensive Rookie of the Year Finalist Derwin James returned to the team too.

James is one of the best safeties in the NFL, and his presence was missed. This secondary is much better with James back in the lineup, and it has eased the pressure off Casey Hayward and Desmond King. Minnesota might be without star receiver Adam Thielen yet again, making Stefon Diggs the only Minnesota receiver to worry about on Sunday.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS -10 VS. DENVER BRONCOS

Everyone is back on the Kansas City bandwagon after the Chiefs knocked off New England last week. Houston was in that same position at this time last week before Denver came to town and waxed them.

The Broncos were up 31-3 by halftime, and they cruised to an easy win over the Texans. Denver has been one of the most unfortunate teams of the season, and this team should have a better record than they do with a -25 point differential.

Drew Lock might be the real deal. The rookie from Missouri has impressed in his first two starts, and Courtland Sutton is coming into his own. The speedy Sutton is averaging 15.9 YPC, so the Chiefs could see him jet by for some big plays.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS -6 AT CAROLINA PANTHERS

Carolina is essentially dead and buried after falling apart over the last month, so many are jumping at the opportunity to lay less than seven points on the NFL betting line with Seattle.

The Seahawks simply aren’t that good though. Seattle has been the most fortunate team in the league with a 10-3 record off a +20 point differential, and they have only won one game by multiple scores. Russell Wilson is having an incredible season, but the Seahawks are rather pedestrian in most other facets of the game, so the Panthers can keep it close.
