NFL Power Rankings: Week 16 Part 1

BY ADAM GREENE

1. BALTIMORE RAVENS (12-2)

Still the best team in the league and one I don’t trust at all to make it through the AFC playoff gauntlet to the Super Bowl.
Last week: 1

2. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (11-3)

This is what happens when you stick with a good coach and good quarterback, Carolina.
Last week: 6

3. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (11-3)

The Saints and Seahawks are now battling for home field. If New Orleans wants to make up for last year’s NFC Championship game, they’ll need to ensure that this season’s game is played in the Superdome.
Last week: 5

4. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (10-4)

No one seems as excited about the Kansas City Chiefs this year. That makes me think good things come January.
Last week: 3

5. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (11-3)

The 49ers are in the playoffs, but they could be anywhere from the two seed to the five, depending on how their final two games go.
Last week: 2

6. GREEN BAY PACKERS (11-3)

The Packers are back in the postseason, which anyone could have predicted the minute Mike McCarthy was loaded up in the catapult and fired over the wall.
Last week: 4

7. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (11-3)

Nice 34-13 win over the Bengals you felt you had to cheat to get there, Pats.
Last week: 7

8. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (10-4)

Going 1-1 over the final two weeks of the season puts Minnesota in the playoffs. They have Green Bay and Chicago, so it won’t be easy, but they will be at home.
Last week: 8

9. BUFFALO BILLS (10-4)

The Bills not only clinched a playoff spot, but they’re a Dolphins upset over the Pats in Week 17 away from getting the second seed. So enjoy that Wild Card road trip Bills, is what I’m saying. Hell, anything’s better than playing in Buffalo.
Last week: 10

10. HOUSTON TEXANS (9-5)

Bill O’Brien accidentally won his chess match with Mike Vrabel due to the fact he has a team full of superior players. Neither of these guys should be coaching in the NFL.
Last week: 12

11. LOS ANGELES RAMS (8-6)

The Rams still aren’t out of the playoff hunt, but if the Vikings pull an upset over the Packers Sunday, it won’t matter what L.A. does against the 49ers.
Last week: 9

12. TENNESSEE TITANS (8-6)

The Titans are still in good shape to make the playoffs, but they need to win out. They can’t count on the Ravens beating the Steelers in Week 17 when Baltimore will have likely already locked up home field and be playing for nothing.
Last week: 11

13. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (8-6)

Mike Tomlin isn’t getting any love in the NFL’s coach of the year talk, but he’s never done a better job.
Last week: 13

14. DALLAS COWBOYS (7-7)

Good news NFL. The winner of the NFC East will at least have an 8-8 record.
Last week: 19

15. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (7-7)

As much crap as everyone talks about the 8-8 possible playoff appearances from the Eagles and Cowboys, the last two teams to make it to the postseason with losing records, the 2010 Seahawks (7-9) and the 2014 Panthers (7-8-1), both won their wild card games against teams with double-digit wins.
Last week: 19
