NFL Week 17 Home Underdogs

Home underdogs continued their slump in Week 16, going 2-3-1 ATS in the penultimate week of the regular season. The Jets and Eagles both won outright as short underdogs, but everyone else fell short of expectations. Tennessee, Cleveland, and Chicago all disappointed as home dogs, yet there are even more home teams listed as underdogs per the NFL betting odds in Week 17.

NFL WEEK 17 BETTING ODDS

CINCINNATI BENGALS +2.5 VS. CLEVELAND BROWNS

Cleveland is ready for this season to end. The Browns have been the most disappointing team of the season considering what was expected of them, and there are problems in the locker room. That’s not a great sign for any team heading into its season finale, and Cleveland is playing a team that has looked livelier than its 1-14 record. Andy Dalton and the Bengals should have a win or two more, and they have a good chance of picking one up.

CAROLINA PANTHERS +13 VS. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Will Grier was not great in his first career start, throwing three interceptions in a blowout loss to Indianapolis in Week 16. Grier will start in the season finale for Carolina too, and that has led to the Panthers being the biggest underdog of Week 17. New Orleans will earn a first-round bye with a win, so the Saints will be motivated to finish strong.

DETROIT LIONS +12.5 VS. GREEN BAY PACKERS

The Lions have won just one of their last 12 games, and they are playing bad football. David Blough has not fared well after a promising start against Chicago on Thanksgiving, and Green Bay is looking strong. The Packers can potentially clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win, and Aaron Jones is running well.

HOUSTON TEXANS +3.5 VS. TENNESSEE TITANS

Tennessee lost to Houston at home two weeks ago, but the Texans are underdogs in Week 17 because they are unlikely to have anything on the line in this game. They can potentially be the No. 3 seed with a victory and a Kansas City home loss to the Chargers, yet that’s a very unlikely scenario considering what we’ve seen from the Chiefs recently.

The Titans will make the playoffs with a victory, making this a win and you’re in scenario for Tennessee. Ryan Tannehill has played very well since taking over for Marcus Mariota, and the Titans expect to get the win.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS +3.5 VS. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

The Jags are another team that just wants the season to end. Jacksonville is in for a reckoning this offseason as many players and coaches from this team will depart, and the Jaguars look to rebuild around Gardner Minshew. There is plenty of discontent due to Tom Coughlin’s policies while in charge of the Jaguars, so the Colts are road favorites despite having nothing to play for in Week 17. Indianapolis can run the ball though, and that’s been a problem for Jacksonville’s defense.

NEW YORK GIANTS +4.5 VS. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Big Blue has won two in a row to move out of the cellar of the NFC, and the Giants nearly beat the Eagles in Week 14. Eli Manning threw a few beautiful passes in a game that went to overtime, but Philadelphia won, and the Eagles are now the favorites to win the NFC East. As long as Philly wins, the Eagles will win the NFC East, so this team will go all out.

BALTIMORE RAVENS PK +105 VS. PITTSBURGH STEELERS

The Ravens would be more than a touchdown favorite per the NFL betting odds if they were using their regular starters, but John Harbaugh has already announced this team will be without at least five starters for its season finale. Baltimore won’t start Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram III, Marshal Yanda, Earl Thomas, and Brandon Williams, giving Pittsburgh a very good chance at getting the win.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS +3 VS. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

In Week 10, Seattle went on the road and forced overtime against San Francisco. The Seahawks eventually won in the extra frame to take command of the NFC West, and they can lock up the division with a win on Sunday night. However, the 49ers have looked much better in recent weeks and are deserved favorites.
