Marshawn Lynch Rushing Total Set At 29.5 In Return For Seahawks

The NFL football season is heading to its climax and the very last game of the 2019 NFL regular season is Sunday night in Seattle where the Seahawks will host the San Francisco 49ers with the NFC West title on the line. If the 49ers win, San Francisco will get the No. 1 seed and home field throughout the NFC playoffs. If the Seahawks win, they will get the No. 3 seed and a home game in the wild card round of the playoffs
One of the underlying storylines for this game is the return of Marshawn Lynch. The former Seahawks star is out of retirement and back in the NFL after the Seahawks lost several running backs to injuries. BetOnline has props up focused on his performance, so let’s take a closer look:
LYNCH SIGNS WITH SEAHAWKS UNDER RARE CIRCUMSTANCES
The series of events which brought Lynch to Seattle is remarkable. The Seahawks had already lost one running back earlier in December when Rashaad Penny was knocked out for the remainder of the season with an injury. They still had Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise in its running back room with Carson being the team’s leading rusher, and Prosise – who had been able to remain relatively healthy this season – as a decent backup and receiving options. In Week 16, though, that all changed as Carson and Prosise were hit with significant injuries, leaving the Seahawks completely out of options. The trio of Carson, Penny and Prosise totaled 1672 rushing yards this season and 14 total touchdowns. For a team that was third in the NFL in rushing attempts, getting cleaned out at the position was a huge blow.
The Seahawks had to sign not one, but two, running backs, one of which was Lynch, who had more recently played with the Oakland Raiders. They also signed Robert Turbin, who has spent time with the Seahawks in the past. Lynch is back in Seattle for the first time since 2015 and this is his second return from retirement. The question is how much does he have left in the tank?
MARSHAWN LYNCH RUSHING YARDS VS. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
OVER 29.5 YARDS +100
UNDER 29.5 YARDS -140
The 49ers have a nasty defense and Lynch is very rusty. It is hard to see how Lynch will do very much behind a banged-up offensive line, which will be without left tackle Duane Brown. Lynch did average 4.2 yards-per-carry last season and he is familiar with this offense, but this doesn’t appear to be the ideal situation for him to thrive. If there was a set of circumstances in which Lynch would thrive upon returning, the opponent (the 49ers), the health of Seattle’s offensive line (poor), and the stakes involved (high) suggest that Lynch will struggle.
WILL MARSHAWN LYNCH SCORE A TOUCHDOWN VS. 49ERS?
NO -220
YES +155
This might actually be a good ‘Yes’ bet. The Seahawks might not score a lot, but they should be able to work their way into the red zone a few times. If they get to the one- or two-yard line, you know they will hand the ball off to Lynch to fire up the crowd and the team. The Seahawks want to see Lynch score. They also want to give Lynch every chance to run the ball into the end zone, remembering that they did not give him the ball at the one-yard line late in Super Bowl XLIX in February of 2015 against the New England Patriots. There will be a lot of emotional encouragement for the Seahawks to allow Lynch to be the man who finishes a touchdown drive.
