We’ve arrived at our final chance to stack up games in hopes of winning the second Showcase Showdown on the Price is Right. I say second, because we all know the first is garbage. The best you’re going to get with hitting it is a new dining room and a Ski Doo. It’s the second that’s going to land you the new Kia Sorento and the trip to Jamaica.
But we’re not just trying to win our own Showcase. We’re trying to get close enough to take them both home.
Here’s what I’ve got for you this week:
BENGALS +135
VIKINGS +150
TEXANS +215
JAGUARS +200
REDSKINS +405
GIANTS +175
RAIDERS +150
SEAHAWKS +150
Now, as always, let’s talk ourselves into it.
If you’ve been following this column over the last few weeks, then you know we’ve gotten pretty close on some of these. Batting .600 would make you the greatest hitter in MLB history, but in parlay betting, it does nothing. Still, it shows you that our lottery ticket could hit at any time. And what better time than Week 17?
I’ll go ahead and wait for you to peruse The FAQ from yesterday as a little primer before we continue.
Back? Good.
Then you know that I already think that the Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks are due to win and considering I’m presently tied for fifth in the nation among all sportswriter handicappers (just three games out of first) according to NFLPickWatch and currently the best picker against the spread in the business, maybe those games are worth a hard look.
As for the rest, the Minnesota Vikings are home against the Chicago Bears and if Kirk Cousins didn’t’ morph into Cousin Eddie every December, you’d be more than comfortable picking Minny in that game.
Doug Marrone is coaching for his NFL coaching life after the Jacksonville Jaguars have already informed him that he will be fired after the final whistle of the Indianapolis Colts game. So this is a kitchen sink scenario for him. If he wants to land on a staff, he’ll need to put on a good show.
And how perfect would it be for the New York Giants to beat the Philadelphia Eagles and them still make the playoffs at 8-8?
Lastly, you have the Oakland Raiders, who were booed off their own field two weeks ago in their final game in Oakland. Can they win out to just rub it in their NoCal fans’ faces that much harder with a victory over the Denver Broncos? You better believe it.
So there you go. All these hit on a $5 bet and you’re taking home $28,030.23. So go for both Showcase Showdowns and you didn’t even have to wear your college’s sweatshirt go over another guy’s bet by a dollar. And just a reminder; help control the pet population and have your pet spayed or neutered.
