Odds Show Eli Manning Expected To Cry At Retirement Press Conference

Eli Manning’s illustrious NFL career has come to a conclusion. On Wednesday, the legendary New York Giants quarterback announced his retirement as the 39-year-old felt it was the right time to hang up his cleats. He’s set to have a press conference in the coming days and BetOnline.ag has posted props on what we’ll see at his goodbye ceremony. Let’s take a closer look at his impressive career and the props on the board for his press conference.
MANNING RETIRES WITH SEVENTH-MOST ALL-TIME PASSING YARDS
Manning walks away from the NFL sitting seventh all time in passing yards with 57,023 and seventh in passing touchdowns with 366. His career will always be remembered for a pair of legendary throws in Super Bowls, one of which went to Mario Manningham and the other which ended up pinned to David Tyree’s helmet. He’s not only a two-time Super Bowl winner, he’s a two-time Super Bowl MVP. Although there is some debate about his Hall of Fame status, it’s quite likely that he’s enshrined when it’s all said and done. He did more than enough over the course of his 16-season career.
WHO WILL ELI MENTION 1ST AT PRESS CONFERENCE?
ARCHIE MANNING / DAD -190
PEYTON MANNING / BROTHER +145
WHO WILL ELI THANK 1ST AT PRESS CONFERENCE?
GIANTS ORGANIZATION/OWNER -150
CITY OF NEW YORK +150
FANS +200
FAMILY +500
WILL ELI MANNING CRY DURING PRESS CONFERENCE?
YES -125
NO -115
WILL ELI MENTION DANIEL JONES?
YES -250
NO +170
With a whole host of props on the board, the question is what will the press conference look like and who will Manning be thanking first. When it comes to the family prop, he’s favored to thank his dad first at -190. That makes sense as Archie raised him and likely taught him most of what he knew in terms of passing (Archie was also a successful NFL quarterback).
In terms of the city, they were hard on him at the end – as well as the fans – as Manning really labored in the twilight of his career. He was the scapegoat for many of the team’s problems. Will he hold that grudge into his final press conference or will he let bygones be bygones?
There’s also some question as to whether or not he’ll mention Daniel Jones, the player he passed the torch to this season. He’s likely to say a few good words about him. The oddsmakers are expecting it as the ‘yes’ is priced at -250 for that prop.
Lastly, Manning is also favored to shed some tears at his press conference. He’s mostly been a stoic player throughout his career but this could be a time where he gets a bit teary-eyed. Manning did go out as a winner, beating the Miami Dolphins in Week 15 when Daniel Jones was out, and he received a standing ovation at the end of the game. Manning’s eyes welled up then, so we might see it happen again for his goodbye press conference.
