Cross-Sport Props For Super Bowl LIV Pit NFL Players Versus PGA Golfers

One of the best parts of Super Bowl Sunday is the vast array of Super Bowl props. One of the unique set of options on the board are the cross-sport lines, which pit players taking part in the Super Bowl versus golfers participating in the Phoenix Waste Management Open, which is the annual PGA Tour event that takes place on Super Bowl weekend. Let’s take a closer look at the props on the board and see if there’s any value with any of them:

WHICH WILL BE HIGHER?

SUPER BOWL TOTAL MISSED EXTRA POINTS -350
TOTAL HOLE-IN-ONES ON NO. 16

The TPC Scottsdale has hosted the Phoenix stop on the PGA Tour since 1987 and it’s become one of the must-see events of the year. That’s because the stadium-like setting for the No. 16 hole is unlike any other atmosphere in all of golf. Leaving that aside for a second, this prop pits holes-in-one on No. 16 versus missed extra points.

Keep in mind that since 1987, there have been a total of nine holes in one. Of course, one of the most famous was the one that Tiger Woods aced in 1997. However, we haven’t seen one since 2015, so this seems unlikely.

So that begs the question then: will we see a missed extra point? Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker was 45-of-48 on extra points this season while Robbie Gould made 41-of-42.

WHICH WILL BE HIGHER?

TRAVIS KELCE RECEPTION -150
RICKIE FOWLER FINAL ROUND BIRDIES +110

GEORGE KITTLE RECEIVING YARDS -150
XANDER SCHAUFFELE FINAL ROUND SCORE +110

BUBBA WATSON FINAL ROUND LONGEST DRIVE -30 -120
PATRICK MAHOMES PASSING YARDS +30 -120

Taking a look at the three props pitting golfers versus Super Bowl players, it’s important to note how all of these guys perform in Phoenix. Fowler won the event last year but he was terrible in his final round. He shot a 74 after going 64, 65 and 64 in his first three rounds. He did about the same in 2018 as he had three good rounds to start (66-66-67) and then finished with a 73 in his final round. This is a good course for him, though, as he’s placed in the top four in three of the last four years.

As for Xander Schauffele, he shot a final round 68 last year with his 10th-place finish and was at 72 in 2018. That’s pretty much it for his recent history as those are his only appearances at the event. In terms of Bubba Watson, he’s currently the PGA Tour’s leader off the team with 323.7 yards-per-drive. The longest drive of his career was 442 yards, though, so he can really drill it. He averaged 337.9 off the tee at the TPC Scottsdale last year, so for Mahomes to win this prop, he’ll have to be within 30 yards of whatever Watson connects with. That probably means he’ll have to have a 300-yard passing game to be safe.
