What Will Be The Most Stolen Vehicle in 2024? Honda Is A Great Bet

Did you know every year over a million vehicles are stolen in the United States. That’s about
283 thefts for every 100,000 people. Regardless of where you live or what you drive, your
vehicle remains at-risk of being stolen. But this article isn’t about how to curb the problem, it’s
about how you can profit on which brand is stolen the most.
How Many Honda’s in the Top 10? (Over 2.5 -200, Under 2.5 +150)
Year after year, Honda’s continue to be a popular vehicle for thieves to jack. It doesn’t matter
which make, if it’s a Honda, the bad guys want it. Over the last two years, three different Honda
vehicles have cracked the Top-10. And there’s not much to suggest the trend will continue in
2024.
2023 Top-10 Stolen Vehicles
1. Chevrolet Pickup 49,903
2. Ford Pickup 48,175
3. Honda Civic 27,113
4. Honda Accord 27,089
5. Hyundai Sonata 21,707
6. Hyundai Elantra 19,602
7. Kia Optima 18,221
8. Toyota Camry 17,094
9. GMC Pickup 16,622
10. Honda CR-V 13,832
While the Chevy pickup and Ford pickup are the most popular, accounting for about 98,000 of
them stolen every year, the Honda Civic and Honda Accord and the most highly sought after car
accounting for about 54,000 of them stolen each year.
Honda Civic
The older Honda Civic is very popular as those models don’t have anti-theft technology. So it’s
no surprise the 2000 version remains the most stolen from the family. Still, thefts did drop about
2,500 from the previous year.
Honda Accord
While the number of Honda Accord thefts have gone down in the past couple of years it still
gains attention especially the 1997 model. Just like the Civic, the Accords are just as popular
because they have very little anti-theft technology, and thieves can still make a boatload of cash
by scrapping for parts.
Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V makes the top ten consistently having about 13,000 of them stolen each year.
The 2000 model was the most popular for thieves as it has the same advantages for thieves as
the Civic and Accord; no anti-theft technology and the parts are highly sought after in the scrap
market.
Betting on Honda
Over the last few years the same make and models have cracked the Top-10 of most stolen
cars in the U.S. That being said, there isn’t much data to suggest the Honda vehicles will drop
out of the Top-10. Honda’s are considered the most reliable car on the road, meaning more and
more of the older models are still being driven. And no-anti-theft technology and a high demand
in the black market means the Honda will continue to be stolen in the United States of America.
