It’s upon us now… John Cena’s final run inside the squared circle. The Doctor of Thuganomics made a surprise appearance at the most recent Money In The Bank premium live event, where he stated that 2025 would be his final year as an in-ring competitor. While we all knew he would one day hang up the jorts, it still hit many of us like a ton of bricks when he said the words.
Obviously, the 16-time WWE World Champion is a surefire Hall of Famer, and that’s to be expected prior to this year’s WrestleMania in Las Vegas. The question is, who will receive the honor of inducting the Chain Gang Soldier into the WWE Hall of Fame? Let’s take a look at some of the options, because yes, you can wager on it!
Randy Orton (+300)
For a stretch, you couldn’t turn on WWE TV without seeing John Cena and Randy Orton feuding. They both came up together in Ohio Valley Wrestling prior to their main roster debuts in 2002. Since then, Orton has taken more than his share of shoulder tackles, Five Knuckle Shuffles, FUs, and “You Can’t See Me” hand waves over the past 22 years.
They have a storied history, and while we hope to see them have one more program inside the ring, having this moment outside of it would be extremely meaningful to the fans. The Viper has previously stated that he would love to have the opportunity to induct one of his greatest foes, John Cena. What better stage to do so than the night before WrestleMania 41?
Kurt Angle (+300)
It would really be a full-circle moment for John Cena to have Kurt Angle induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. Cena made his SmackDown debut in 2002 to answer an open challenge thrown out by the Olympic gold medalist. It was at this moment that Cena introduced the world to WWE’s era of “Ruthless Aggression.”
Add in the fact that Cena inducted Angle into the Hall of Fame in 2017, and it’s not a far-off bet that WWE could have Angle return the favor. WWE loves their full-circle moments, and the two also used to tear it up in the ring back in the day. They have history when the bell rings. Oh, it’s true, it’s damn true.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (+550)
In many ways, The Rock walked so Cena could run. What I mean by this is that The Rock really opened the doors for many wrestlers, including Cena, to enter the acting field and have the ability to become part-timers until they fully transitioned outside of the ring and onto the silver screen.
Yes, they’ve only faced each other twice, but could we see the trilogy fulfilled at WrestleMania 41? While it would certainly create a lot of buzz on the speeches, having two titans of sports and entertainment on the mic would be incredible. There would be questions about how they would do it, especially if they were in a match at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Inducting your opponent would be intriguing, but would they want to use that moment to further the program or just step back and let Cena have his flowers? I think the man who rocked the spinner belt deserves the latter.
