Who Will Lead the Majors in Home Runs in 2024?
With the NFL season officially over, the focus now turns to America’s pastime as pitchers and
catchers are reporting for spring training and it won’t be long before Opening Day sneaks up on
us. While many are predicting division, league and World Series winners, others are projecting
who will lead in certain categories. So who will lead the Majors in Home Runs in 2024? Let’s
dive in and take a closer look at some of the contenders.
The Obvious Choices
Aaron Judge, New York Yankees (+400)
After a prolific season two years ago where Judge hit an American League record 62 home runs
he struggled in 2022 with just 37. Judge dealt with injuries and missed 56 games but if you
prorated his production he was on pace for 56 home runs. That production would have won him
the home run title in 5 of the last 6 years. The other season? Judge smacked 62. As long as
he stays healthy, he’ll be in contention for yet another home run title.
Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves (+600)
Matt Olson led the Majors with 54 home runs in 2023, seven more than Kyle Shwarber who was
a distant second. Olson’s output helped the Braves put up the best record in baseball during
the regular season. He’ll be counted on for similar numbers this year, making him one of the
favorites in this category.
The Value Plays
Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers (+1000)
While he is the most expensive player in baseball and can do it all, Shohei Ohtani actually won’t
be pitching this season, meaning his chances to finish with the most home runs are much better
than in previous years. Over the last three seasons, Ohtani has smacked 46, 34, and 44 home
runs, while in the starting rotation for the Angels. Now with the Dodgers, strictly concentrating on
hitting, Ohtani isn’t a bad bet that these odds.
Ronald Acuña Jr., Atlanta Braves (+2000)
The two years Ronald Acuña Jr. has been able to stay healthy and play a full slate of games,
he’s hit 41 home runs (2019, 2023). That kind of production shows how dangerous he can be if
he’s in the lineup day in and day out. He is considered one of the hardest hitting players in the
majors and could break out in 2024 with a stacked Braves lineup. Hitting the half-century mark
isn’t out of the question for the 26-year-old.
Longshot With A Shot
Julio Rodríguez, Seattle Mariners (+5500)
After just two seasons, Julio Rodríguez is already considered one of the best young players in
baseball. Recently, the 23-year-old expressed disappointment in his 2023 season where he still
hit 32 home runs. Expected a highly motivated young superstar who made it to the semi-final of
last year’s Home Run Derby. At these long odds, why the heck not, right?
