Gaethje vs. Holloway For The BMF Title

You could say that this contest is all about pride and improving records for both Justin

Gaethje and Max Holloway, but technically there is a “title” up for grabs. The

BMF(Baddest Motherf**ker) title will be on the line and while it’s not an official UFC

championship and is purely symbolic, it still has meaning. Introduced at UFC 244, the

BMF belt is known as one to elevate fan-favorites due to their toughness and propensity

for putting on some of the best bouts on the planet.

Its inaugural champion, Jorge Masvidal, never actually defended it and it was only

brought back after he retired. It was at UFC 291 against Dustin Poirier where Gaethje

emerged victorious and earned the BMF title. While The Rock presented the title to the

inaugural champion in Masvidal, both fighters hope that it will be UFC Hall of Famer

Mark Coleman who will present the victor the belt this time. Holloway initiated the idea

of having Coleman as the presenter because he’s a “real life BMF” after rescuing his

parents from what was a near-fatal house fire back in March. While many are hopeful

that it will be Coleman to present the winner with the BMF belt, one thing you can count

on is that both fighters plan to paint a violent picture at UFC 300.

Justin Gaethje (-200)

The 35 year-old is looking to become the first person to successfully defend the BMF

title in UFC history. It’s a title that Gaethje earned thanks to a brutal head-kick knockout

against Poirier last July and it’s a title that he takes great pride in. He enters the

octagon on a two-fight win streak with just four of his twenty-nine pro fights going the

distance in his lengthy career. Known as “The Highlight”, Gaethje is known as a heavy

hitter, finishing six fights via knockout and won’t shy away from going that route once

again.

Max Holloway (+170)

Known as one of the most exciting fighters in UFC history, the 32-year-old is feeding off

the doubters who believe he’s making a mistake in going up a division once again. In

2019, the last time Holloway competed as a Lightweight, he saw a 13-fight win streak

broken at the hands of Poirier. Regardless of what others say, Holloway wants the title

of BMF and is willing to go up to 155 pounds to do it. He’s riding a two-fight win streak

which includes his most recent fight where he knocked out and retired the Korean

Zombie last August.
