UFC 275 Parlay

There will be two championship belts on the line at UFC 275 this weekend. UFC Light Heavyweight Championship title holder Glover Teixeira will defend his belt against Jiri Prochazka, and UFC Women’s Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko will make her seventh title defense when she fights Taila Santos. Shevchenko is a heavy favorite by the UFC betting odds, but Teixeira is a sizable underdog against Prochazka. However, the most anticipated fight is probably the rematch between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili after their first match was named Fight of the Year in 2020.

UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Prochazka will take place at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.  This fight will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, on the other side of the world, but it will be in primetime in North America. The prelims will start at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+, while the main card will kick off at 10 p.m. ET through PPV on ESPN+.

UFC 275 Picks

Jiri Prochazka by Knockout Over Glover Teixeira -155

There’s a good reason why Jiri Prochazka is favored in this fight although he is the challenger. Prochazka is 28-3-1 overall as a professional MMA fighter, and he hasn’t lost since New Year’s Eve in 2015. That loss came in a Grand Prix format, so it was his second fight of the night, and it’s easy to dismiss it since Prochazka avenged it three years later by finishing Muhammed Luwal to win the Rizin Light Heavyweight Championship. Prochazka was dominant in Rizin and had a knack for finishing fighters early, as 25 of his 28 wins have come by knockout. He earned Performance of the Night bonuses for his second-round knockouts of Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes after joining the UFC, and he should be able to finish Glover Teixeira.

Teixeira has won six straight fights coming into UFC 275. He has won Performance of the Night bonuses in three of those wins, but the 42-year-old no longer has the power he did when he was younger. Teixeira has had to rely on his grappling skills, yet he won’t be able to submit Prochazka, and that will be a real problem.

Valentina Shevchenko -600 vs. Taila Santos

It’s impossible to bet against Valentina Shevchenko when she is taking on any opponent aside from Amanda Nunes. Shevchenko has only lost to Nunes in the last 11 years, and she has held the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship since December 2018. Her overall skills make her the second-best female fighter in the UFC, and it’s really hard to see a way that Taila Santos wins this fight.

Santos may have a promising future, but she has yet to face anyone on the same level of Shevchenko. She hasn’t showcased a ton of power during her time in the UFC, so it would take a pretty big mistake from Shevchenko for her to lose to the underdog.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk by Knockout Over Weili Zhang +675

Although Joanna Jedrzejczyk lost to Weili Zhang in their first fight, she is the choice to win the rematch. Jedrzejczyk hasn’t entered the Octagon since that loss as she had a massive hematoma that needed to heal, and she has lost four of her last six fights after starting her career 14-0. Jedrzejczyk is not afraid to scrap though, and she can do all sorts of damage, so this is a good price.

Weili Zhang was unable to beat Rose Namajunas in their two title fights last year, so she will be taking on Jedrzejczyk again. Although Zhang was able to win the first fight, she had to settle for a split decision win as both fighters traded massive blows. The oddsmakers think it’s likely that this bout goes the distance, so there is a lot of value in a knockout.
