UFC 277 Parlay

Amanda Nunes will look to reclaim the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship at UFC 277. The Lioness is widely regarded as the greatest female fighter in MMA history, but she was stunned by Julianna Pena at UFC 269. Pena ended up scoring a submission in the second round to win the title, and anyone that backed Pena in December scored a huge win as the challenger was a +800 underdog by the UFC betting odds. Nunes is the favorite in the rematch, but the oddsmakers have a lot more respect for Pena this time.

UFC 277 will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, July 30, 2022. The prelims for this fight get underway at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN+, and the main card will be available on ESPN PPV at 10 p.m. ET.

UFC 277 Picks

Amanda Nunes to Win Inside Distance vs. Julianna Pena -125

This might seem like a risky bet considering it was Amanda Nunes’ desire to finish Julianna Pena that got her in trouble in their first fight. Nunes easily won the first round against Pena, but she was reckless and undisciplined in the second round and was caught with a few hard shots that sent her reeling. That allowed Pena to pull off the upset, so we should see a calmer and more collected Nunes this time.

It’s hard to explain just how surprising Pena’s win was in December. Pena had alternated losses and wins over her previous four fights, and she was thought to be just a stopgap opponent. She was dominated by Valentina Shevchenko and lost to Germaine de Randamie in her two most recent losses.

Four of Pena’s last five fights have resulted in a submission in the second or third round. Nunes has shown that she can knockout her opponents or submit them, so there’s a pretty good chance that we see the former champion finish Pena.

Brandon Moreno -215 vs. Kai Kara-France

The co-main event will also feature a rematch as Brandon Moreno scored a unanimous decision win over Kai Kara-France at UFC 245 less than three years ago. It’s been a while since Moreno fought someone other than Deiveson Figueiredo though as the two athletes squared off for the UFC Flyweight Championship in Moreno’s last three fights. Moreno went 1-1-1 against the current flyweight champion, and he would love to set up the first ‘fourpeat’ title fight in the UFC with a win over Kara- France.

Kara-France has won three straight fights after suffering a submission defeat at the hands of Brandon Royval at UFC 253 two years ago. He knocked out Rogerio Bontorin and Cody Garbrandt in the first round, and he scored a unanimous decision win over Askar Askarov in March. Moreno is a much more difficult foe though, and Kara-France will be unable to rise to the challenge.

Magomed Ankalaev -600 vs. Anthony Smith

At this point, it’s hard to have much faith in Anthony Smith. He has not been the same fighter since his war with Jon Jones at UFC 235. Smith did beat Alexander Gustafsson in his next match, but he was outclassed by both Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic. His last three fights all resulted in first-round knockouts, yet those fighters are nowhere near the same level as Magomed Ankalaev.
