UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland Parlay

There is only one UFC Fight Night between UFC 270 and UFC 271 on Super Bowl weekend. Jack Hermansson will take on Sean Strickland in the main event of this week’s UFC event. Hermansson has come close to challenging for the UFC Middleweight Championship, and Strickland was the KOTC Middleweight Champion before coming to the UFC eight years ago. Both fighters are currently ranked in the top eight in the division.

UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at UFC Apex outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The prelims will start at 4 p.m. ET with the main card getting underway at 7 p.m. ET. The entire promotion will only be available through ESPN Plus.

UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland Picks

Jack Hermansson +175 vs. Sean Strickland

A lot of the shine has come off Jack Hermansson since his loss to Jared Cannonier in September 2019. Although Hermansson scored an early submission against Kelvin Gastelum and convincingly beat Edmen Shahbazyan, his loss by unanimous decision to Marvin Vettori hurt his standing despite the fact that both fighters earned Fight of the Night bonuses.

There is a lot to like about Hermansson in this fight though. He has 11 knockouts and six submissions, and he has shown he has the stamina to go the distance. Sean Strickland may have won his last five fights, but he is too much of a favorite considering he doesn’t have much of a ground game. Strickland’s biggest win to date is over Uriah Hall, so this is the toughest opponent he has faced since losing to Kamaru Usman five years ago at UFC 210.

Punahele Soriano -185 vs. Nick Maximov

We saw Punahele Soriano come back down to Earth after his loss to Brendan Allen last July. Soriano had won his first eight MMA bouts, but he lost a unanimous decision to Allen. He has the potential to end this fight in a hurry as seven of his eight victories have come in the first round with five of those by knockout.

Nick Maximov is undefeated, coming into this fight at 7-0. However, Maximov has yet to be really tested as he only made his UFC debut last September. He could pull off the upset if he is able to take the fight to the ground, but he has a real risk of getting knockout in the first round.

Brendan Allen -415 vs. Sam Alvey

Although Brendan Allen lost his last fight, he is an enormous favorite here. Allen looked strong in his win over Soriano, and he is solid on the canvas with nine of his 17 wins coming by submission.

Meanwhile, veteran Sam Alvey has not won a fight since a split decision victory over Gian Villante in June 2018. Alvey is 0-6-1 in his last seven fights, and he hasn’t had success as either a light heavyweight or a middleweight.
