Now that there is no football for the next six months, more people will be turning to combat sports. The UFC is expected to see an uptick in viewers this week, especially following the results of UFC 271. Light heavyweights Jamahal Hill and Johnny Walker will square off in the headline fight this weekend, but a lot of people will be interested to see Chris Daukaus’ younger brother Kyle Daukaus take on Jamie Pickett in the co-main event too.
On Saturday, February 19, 2022, UFC Fight Night: Walker vs. Hill will take place at the UFC Apex Training Center in Enterprise, Nevada. The prelims will kick off at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN Plus, while the main card is slated to start at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN Plus.
UFC Fight Night: Walker vs. Hill Picks
Jamahal Hill -240 vs. Johnny Walker
There is some real buzz about the potential of Jamahal Hill. He was impressive in his five fights before joining the UFC, and he hasn’t struggled as much as other fighters have after making the jump to the highest level of MMA. He scored a unanimous decision victory over Darko Stosic in his debut, and he knocked out Klidson Abreu in the first round of their bout four months later. Hill also scored knockouts of veteran Ovince Saint Preux and Jimmy Crute, and his only loss at this point has been to Paul Craig.
Johnny Walker got off to a strong start in his UFC career with three straight wins and Performance of the Night bonuses for his first-round knockouts of Khalil Rountree Jr., Justin Ledet, and Misha Cirkunov. However, Walker has hit a wall over the last couple years. He has lost three of his last four fights, and he lost a unanimous decision to Thiago Santos last October.
There’s a good chance this fight is over in the first round. Five of Walker’s last seven fights ended in first-round knockouts, and there has been a first-round KO in three of Hill’s last four bouts.
Jamie Pickett +220 vs. Kyle Daukaus
This is the underdog to roll with on Saturday night. Jamie Pickett has won his last two fights after dropping his first two bouts in the UFC, and he has shown he has the stamina to go the distance for a big man. This line is a little inflated because Kyle Daukaus is related to heavyweight contender Chris Daukaus. Kyle Daukaus is 1-2-1 since joining the UFC, and Pickett has a four-inch advantage in terms of reach.
Parker Porter -265 vs. Alan Baudot
Speaking of Chris Daukaus, that is the only fighter that Parker Porter has lost to in the last three years. Porter is 4-1 in his five fights over this timespan with wins by knockout, submission, and decision. He has yet to lose a fight by decision as he has surprisingly good conditioning for a big man. Alan Baudot has been knocked out in both of his UFC fights, so it’s hard to have a lot of faith in him.
