No. 1 Longhorns vs. No. 5 Bulldogs: Week 8 Game Preview

It could be a national title game preview as No.1 Texas faces No.5 Georgia. The Longhorns have been steamrolling everyone while the Bulldogs have been doing the same but have a single loss. With so much on the line, this should be tight, close game that could come down to the final possession.

Texas Longhorns

Texas has run over every opponent and it hasn’t been close with each victory by 19-points or more. Defensively, the Longhorns are the best in the nation allowing just 230 YPG and surrendering 6 points per outing. And they haven’t given up two touchdowns in a game. But Texas is about to face its toughest offensive opponent this season. Steve Sarkisian is leading the charge getting QB Quinn Ewers to use all his receivers. Seven players have hit the 100-yard mark and have scored at least two touchdowns. The backfield is just as potent, averaging 205 yards per game in the last three.

Georgia Bulldogs

Since 2021 and under head coach Kirby Smart, the Bulldogs are 31-3 in conference play and have won two National Championship titles. Interestingly, all three losses were to Alabama. The Dawgs are #23 in the nation with 443 yards per game and recently, Carson Beck has cranked up his own game. After that loss to the Crimson Tide, he threw for 459 yards and 3 touchdowns against Mississippi State. But Beck and company also face their toughest defensive opponent to date.

Best Bet: Over 56 (-115)

Despite solid defenses, there’s just too much firepower on both sides. Quinn Ewers and Carson Beck will try to put on a show not only to solidify their teams as top contenders but their own personal stock when it comes to the NFL Draft.

Player Prop Best Bets

Quintrevion Wisner OVER 58.5 Rushing yards (-114)

While he hasn’t gone over 59.5 rushing yards in 14 of his last 17 games, this is a spot for Quintrevion Wisner to have a big outting. In his last two games, 118 yards on 13 carries vs Oklahoma and 88 yards on 13 attempts against Mississippi State. In a game of this magnitude, Wisner should get ample opportunities and will not disappoint.
