2021 NFL MVP Odds – Week 18

Aaron Rodgers is the heavy favorite to be named NFL MVP coming into the final week of the regular season. Rodgers has the Green Bay Packers poised to finish the year with the top record in the league, but he isn’t as much of a slam dunk to win the MVP as the oddsmakers are making it seem at this price. Hub Arkush has already gone on the record to say that he won’t vote for Rodgers, and there are certainly others that have the same sentiments, especially considering Rodgers’ numbers aren’t that great this season.

There is great value going against Aaron Rodgers to be named NFL MVP. Rodgers will be far from a unanimous choice, and there is buzz around other players that are honestly probably a lot more deserving than the three-time MVP. The reigning MVP will start in Week 18, but he has yet to surpass 4,000 passing yards this season. Rodgers ranks ninth in passing yards, sixth in YPA, and is tied for third in passing touchdowns. He does lead the league in passer rating and has only thrown four interceptions, yet that isn’t enough for him to be this much of a favorite.

Tom Brady

Tom Brady was way too much of an underdog last week, and the oddsmakers have adjusted his price accordingly. Brady should lead the league in passing yards and touchdown passes this season, and he has 4,990 yards and 40 touchdowns coming into Week 18. Tampa Bay has been a mess recently with Chris Godwin out for the season and Antonio Brown released following his antics, but Brady’s play has kept the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the hunt for a No. 2 seed in the NFC.

Jonathan Taylor

Last Week’s Odds: +600

The league’s leading rusher is Jonathan Taylor, and he has waltzed his way to the rushing title this season. Taylor has run for 1,734 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging 5.5 YPC this year. He has over 500 yards more than Nick Chubb who is in second place in rushing yards, and he could have a huge performance in the season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is a must win game for Indianapolis for the Colts’ playoff hopes, so Taylor has an outside chance to surpass 2,000 rushing yards.

Cooper Kupp

Cooper Kupp still has a chance to be named NFL MVP too. Kupp could become the first receiver in league history to finish the year with over 2,000 receiving yards. He has 138 receptions for 1,829 yards and 15 touchdowns, and he leads the league in YAC. The third-round draft pick out of Eastern Washington has been extremely important to the Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford after Robert Woods suffered a season-ending injury, and he is still posting big numbers despite defenses keying on him.
