Chiefs Chase 9th Straight AFC West Title
They have been the class of the AFC West for almost a decade and aren’t showing any signs of
slowing down. The Kansas City Chiefs are once again favorites to win the division and are
chasing their ninth straight AFC West crown. But the price is shorter than previous years, so is
there a chance for an upset in the division? We’ll break these four teams down to find out.
Kansas City Chiefs -250
The Chiefs are the class of the division, conference and the league and are the two-time
defending Super Bowl Champions. But is there a chance they take a step back? Travis Kelce
turns 35 in October, rookie Kingsley Suamataia is the starting left tackle, and Rashee Rice could
miss games due to off field legal issues. But KC did add explosive rookie receiver Xavier
Worthy. Chris Jones leads a defense that was fabulous last season ranking seventh overall.
Here’s something to consider though. The Chiefs start the season against Baltimore, Cincinnati,
Atlanta and the Chargers and have some difficult road games in San Fran, Buffalo, and then
Cleveland and Pittsburgh in December. They should still be a force in the playoffs, but winning
the AFC West again, isn’t a guarantee.
Los Angeles Chargers +325
Is this the year the Chargers finally put it together under new head coach Jim Harbaugh? For
the past two seasons, L.A. has been competitive but poor coaching decisions by Brandon
Staley cost them games. Justin Herbert will have a new playbook and better protection as the
Chargers added Joe Alt to the offensive line. Wideout rookie Ladd McConkey could also
become a big weapon for Herbert as the team revamps the offense after losing Keenan Allen,
Mike Williams and Austin Ekeler in the offseason. Defensive coordinatorJesse Minter joins
Harbaugh from Michigan and should have a more dynamic style this season. If the Chiefs take a
step back, the Chargers have a great opportunity to take this division and at a juicy price.
Las Vegas Raiders +1000
New head coach Antonio Pierce finished with a 5-4 record and had his team playing competitive
ball. But does he have the horses to overtake KC and LA? The Raiders will likely have
Gardner Minshew as their starter, and Aidan O’Connell as the back-up. Not many teams will be
afraid of that duo. But they do have star wideout Davante Adams, underrated Jakobi Meyers
and rookie Brock Bowers. Las Vegas defense, led by Maxx Crosby kept them in games last
season but the Raiders will have the 9th toughest schedule in 2024, a challenge that will be too
difficult to overcome.
Denver Broncos +1400
The Broncos are in a rebuilding season considering they’ve moved on from Russell Wilson and
drafted rookie Bo Nix. Head coach Sean Payton can now sort out his roster but there are major
concerns especially with the offensive line. Center Lloyd Cushenberry left for Tennessee, there
is a lack of depth at running back as Javonte Williams returns but can he carry the load to help
in Nix’s first season? Denver’s regular season wins line is set at 5.5, so that tells you everything
you need to know about their chances of winning this division.
