Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers Monday Night NFL Prop Bets

The Packers are back for their third primetime game of the season. Though it isn’t a surprise that Green Bay is 4-1, they’ve taken an unexpected path to get there. Aaron Rodgers is barely a top-15 quarterback in terms of yards per game, and with just six touchdowns he sits in the bottom third of the league. But they are well-balanced as one of only four teams in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive DVOA.

Detroit could make for a tough challenge. The Lions had their bye week to stew over their first loss of the season, which came at the hands of Kansas City 15 days ago. That narrow loss and a come-from-ahead tie in Week 1 are all that separate Detroit from a perfect record. A win in Lambeau will get everyone’s attention.

If you want a little money on the line, here are a few of our favorite props to consider.

AARON JONES UNDER 70.5 RUSHING YARDS (-114)

Jones may have had a monster game last week, but the fact remains that he failed to eclipse 40 rushing yards in three of his five games. After David Johnson picked up 82 rushing yards in Week 1, no other running back has picked up more than 66 yards against the Lions. The expected return of Jamaal Williams could also limit Jones’ carries.

MARQUEZ VALDES-SCANTLING 88 RECEIVING YARDS OR MORE (+206)

Valdes-Scantling has played one Monday night game in his career. He had a career-high 103 receiving yards. As Green Bay’s de facto number-one receiver while Davante Adams is out, Valdes-Scantling can’t keep having games like the one he had last week.

DETROIT WINS BY 1-13 (+223)

The Detroit money line is +165. If you like Detroit to win outright, why not pick them to win a close game and turn a little extra profit? You can also get Green Bay by the same margin for +148. Green Bay’s money line is -190.

MATTHEW STAFFORD 3 PASSING TDS OR MORE (+380)

Stafford has thrown for three scores in half of his games this season. He’s thrown for multiple scores in nine straight games against Green Bay. In those nine games, he threw three touchdowns three times. At +380, it’s worth a shot.

KERRYON JOHNSON TO HAVE 120+ RUSHING YARDS AND DET TO WIN (+875)

Johnson has two career games over 120 yards. One of them was last week. The other was last season in Week 7 when the Lions were also coming off their bye.

The Packers have gone through stretches of getting worked on the ground. Dalvin Cook, the Phillip Lindsay/Royce Freeman timeshare and the Jordan Howard/Miles Sanders timeshare had well over 120 yards. The Detroit backfield belongs to Johnson, so if the Lions produce on the ground he will be the one to benefit.

There’s the added caveat that Detroit must win the game, but there’s a much better shot of that if Johnson is this successful. If that’s a non-starter, you can get Johnson finishes with 122+ rush yards at +434.
