Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers Monday Night NFL Props

The Chiefs were 1-1 without Patrick Mahomes and many expected the Chiefs to return to their dominant ways when he returned in Week 10. Mahomes was indeed dominant, throwing for 446 yards and three touchdowns. But the Chiefs were upset in the final minute to fall to 6-4, temporarily tying them in first place in the AFC West with the Raiders. This Monday night trip to Mexico City isn’t a must-win, but a loss would make a trip to the playoffs much more difficult.

When we last saw the Chargers, they were losing to the Raiders on a Thursday night behind three Philip Rivers interceptions. Despite a 2-5 start, the Chargers have generally been a very competitive team. Of their six losses, none were by more than seven points. They’ve had a lot of time to prepare for this one and, like Kansas City, they’ll take part in the last round of byes next week.

If you’d like to enjoy Monday night with something on the line, here are a few of our favorite props to consider.

PATRICK MAHOMES UNDER 315.5 YARDS (-114)

Mahomes faced the Chargers in Week 1 and Week 15 last season. He threw for 256 and 243 yards, respectively. He was still excellent (six total touchdowns) but the yardage wasn’t there. Only two quarterbacks (Deshaun Watson, Ryan Tannehill) have thrown for 300 yards against the Chargers this season. At 207.8 passing yards allowed per game, they have the NFL’s fourth-best pass defense.

DAMIEN WILLIAMS 74+ RUSHING YARDS (+129)

Williams’ usage went downhill for a while as he ceded carries to LeSean McCoy. That appears to have come to an end over the last two weeks when Williams picked up 125 and 77 yards, respectively. He had 38 touches compared to 10 total for McCoy, Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson.

KEENAN ALLEN 9+ RECEPTIONS (+164)

Allen entered the week second in the league in targets. Hunter Henry has cut into his target share, but Allen is still the receiver most likely to get Philip Rivers’ attention. With two pass attempts, Rivers will be in the top five in the league in that area.

MELVIN GORDON 104+ RUSHING YARDS (+252)

Like Williams, Gordon has come on over the last couple of weeks. He’s getting twice as many touches as Austin Ekeler and is coming off his first 100-yard game of the season. The Chiefs just gave up 188 yards on the ground to Derrick Henry and rank 30th in run defense. The last time Gordon faced the Chiefs, he picked up 102 yards on the ground.

TRAVIS KELCE 2+ TOUCHDOWNS (+350)

Kelce has a touchdown reception in five of his six career Monday night games. He had 10 touchdowns with Mahomes last year and eight in 2017 with Alex Smith, but only has three so far this season. He’s due to get in the end zone a bit more often before the end of the season. We’ll say he uses Monday night to enjoy some positive regression.
