MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK 14 GAME 1: TENNESSEE TITANS AT MIAMI DOLPHINS

BY ADAM GREENE

Congratulations, Disney Corp., you’ve played against yourself as your networks have scheduled two NFL games, the highest rated events of not only this part of the season, but of the entire year, at the exact same time. Yes, both this Monday Night Football Game and the Green Bay Packers at New York Giants Monday Night Football game kick off at 8:15 p.m. Though this is obviously the better game, we get the B-team announcers with Chris Fowler, Louis Riddick and everybody’s favorite bad dessert and cookie take artist, Dan Orlovski. Laura Rutledge s manning the sideline. They actually do a great job and this game should be kicking off at 6 p.m. instead of 8:15 to showcase it.

This is the 40th all time meeting between these two franchises as the Titans used to be the Houston Oilers before 1997. Miami has won four of the last seven meetings, but Tennessee took their last matchup, 34-2, on Jan. 2, 2022. Ryan Tannehill (now benched) was 13 of 18 passing for 120 yards, two touchdowns and no picks in the blowout victory. D’Onta Foreman (now with the Chicago Bears) rushed 26 times for 132 yards and a score.

In the loss, Tua Tagovailoa was 18 of 38 passing for 205 yards, no TDs and a pick. Duke Johnson (now out of the league) rushed seven times for 49 yards. Mike Gesicki caught four passes for 51 yards.

TENNESSEE TITANS AT MIAMI DOLPHINS (-13.5, O/U: 47)

Location: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Fla.

Broadcast: ESPN

Kickoff: Dec. 11, 8:15 p.m.

TENNESSEE TITANS (4-8)

After picking up their only win of November, the Titans were right back to their losing ways, falling 31-28 in an overtime shootout with the Indianapolis Colts. Will Levis was 16 of 33 passing for 224 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the loss. He was sacked six times. Derrick Henry rushed 21 times for 102 yards and two scores. Tyjae Spears had 16 carries for 75 yards. DeAndre Hopkins hauled in five passes for 75 yards and a TD. The defense held Indy to just 55 yards on the ground and sacked Gardner Minshew III three times.

MIAMI DOLPHINS (9-3)

Miami has yet to claim a victory over a winning franchise, but they have obliterated every bum team on their schedule. Last week was more of the same as they trounced the Washington Commanders, 45-15. Tua Tagovailoa was 18 of 24 passing for 280 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the win. He was not sacked. De’Von Achane rushed 17 times for 73 yards and two scores. Tyreek Hill caught five passes for 157 yards and two TDs. The defense sacked Sam Howell three times and picked him off once.

THE PICK

Miami slaughters the bad teams on its schedule and Tennessee is a bad team on its schedule. This pick is just down to observable science. Dolphins 34, Titans 20
