MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK 15: PHILADELPHIA EAGLES AT SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

BY ADAM GREENE

What many expected to be a playoff preview (not me, but you know who you are), will now serve as a “get right” game for the Philadelphia Eagles as they travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the slumping Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

Seattle has dominated this series over the last decade, winning seven straight meetings since 2011 and 11 of their last 14 going all the way back to 1995. As such, they hold a 12-7 advantage in the head-to-head. They last faced off on Nov. 30, 2020, with the Seahawks notching a 23-17 win. Russell Wilson (now with the Denver Broncos) was 22 of 31 passing for 230 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the victory. DK Metclaf caught 10 passes for 177 yards.

In the loss, Carson Wentz (now with the Los Angeles Rams) was 25 of 45 passing for 215 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. He led the Eagles in rushing with five carries for 41 yards. Dallas Goedert caught seven passes for 75 yards.

Location: Lumen Field, Seattle, Wash.

Broadcast: NBC

Kickoff: Dec. 18, 8:15 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (10-3)

The Eagles took their second bad loss in a row, falling 33-13 to the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington last week. Jalen Hurts finished 18 of 27 passing for 197 yards, no touchdowns and no picks in the defeat. He rushed five times for 30 yards and was sacked once. AJ Brown caught nine passes for 94 yards. DeVonta Smith hauled in five balls for 73 yards. The defense sacked Dak Prescott three times.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (6-7)

Seattle dropped its fourth game in a row and fifth of their last six contests, falling 28-16 to the San Francisco 49ers in a result that could have been predicted from outer space. The Seahawks have now been swept by both the Rams and Niners. Drew Lock played well in place of an injured Geno Smith, gong 22 of 31 passing for 268 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss. He was sacked four times. Zach Charbonnet rushed nine times for 44 yards. Tyler Lockett caught six passes for 89 yards. DK Metcalf hauled in two balls for 52 yards and a score.

THE PICK

Seattle serves as a solid measuring stick for any truly contending team. All legitimate contenders should be able to knock off the Seahawks by multiple scores. If it’s a close win, it shows more potential problems for the contending team than it does good things about Seattle. I predicted three weeks ago as they were 6-5, coming off two straight losses and heading into Dallas for a Thursday Nighter, that once they took that “L” (and they did), they would not get to experience a winning record again in the calendar year of 2023. That has held up and now they’re about to be handed loss No. 8 on the season. There is no way Philly loses three in a row and this one should not be close. Eagles 34, Seahawks 19
