NFL Comeback Player of the Year: Cousins, Darnold Among Favorites

After Week 5 we’ve seen big changes atop the odds board when it comes to Comeback Player
of The Year. Once left for dead, Sam Darnold has steadily moved up as he has his Vikings out
to a surprising 5-0 start. Kirk Cousins has seen a big shift after two big wins against divisional
foes. Is there a dark horse looming? Can Aaron Rodgers bounce back? Time to check out all
the current odds.
Kirk Cousins, Falcons (+300)
Preseason Odds: +200
After a couple of games to shake off the cobwebs, Kirk Cousins has really shown his class by
leading the Falcons to back-to-back comeback wins. Cousins is fifth in the NFL with 1,373
yards and has thrown 8 TDs with 5 interceptions. He’s finally been able to unlock some of the
offensive weapons in Atlanta including Drake London and Darnell Mooney.
Sam Darnold, Vikings (+300)
Preseason Odds: +700
He’s become the talk of the NFL after leading the Vikings to a 5-0 start. Sam Darnold was
supposed to be the back-up and signed a one-year deal but has been thrust into the starter role
and has turned heads around the league. He’s second in the NFL with 11 passing TDs, and if he
can continue this run for Minnesota, these odds will continue to drop.
Aaron Rodgers, Jets (+400)
Preseason Odds: +260
He’s been the favorite since Week 1 one but after back-to-back losses to Denver and Minnesota
where Aaron Rodgers threw 3 interceptions and was sacked 8 times combined, his odds have
fallen. Rodgers still shows some issues of that injury and the offensive line has struggled to
protect him. But with talk Davante Adams could be coming to New York, grabbing Rodgers at
these odds could prove to be a wise bet.
Damar Hamlin, Bills (+900)
Damar Hamlin was the favorite to win this award last year after returning from a cardiac arrest
suffered on the field in January of 2023. But Joe Flaccos’ late season heroics changed that.
This season, Hamlin has taken on a bigger role with the Bills defense 22 tackles, 9 assists and
an interception and has been a big part of the Bills secondary.
