NFL Week 6 Sunday Morning Tweet Storm Recap

Every Sunday morning, the NFL’s national reporters unload injury news and other tidbits to inform our gambling decisions. Here are some of the top news items and what they mean.

PLAYERS RULED OUT

These players were all ruled out ahead of time or listed as doubtful for most of the week. Adam Schefter pretty much makes it official.

ALVIN KAMARA (NO) SHOULD BE FINE

It’s never good when a player misses the Friday practice, as Kamara did this week. The good news is the missed practice was likely only precautionary.

CBS DENZEL WARD (CLE) AND GREEDY WILLIAMS (CLE) EXPECTED TO SIT

The Seahawks have their own injury issues on the offensive line, but this news ought to make Russell Wilson smile. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf should have an easier time going against backups.

CHRISTIAN KIRK (ARI) WON’T PLAY

Kirk had previously been reported as a game-time decision. Now it looks like he won’t make an effort to suit up.

DAVID JOHNSON (ARI) EXPECTED TO PLAY

Johnson finally got some practice time in on Friday. Kliff Kingsbury called him a game-time decision, though Schefter appears to have put an end to the suspense.

SAMMY WATKINS (KC) WON’T RETURN

Watkins was doubtful, so this is no surprise.

HUNTER HENRY (LAC) SET TO RETURN

Henry suffered a tibial plateau fracture in Week 1 and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks. After practicing fully at the end of the week, Henry’s return is not a major surprise.

GEORGE KITTLE (SF) LIKELY TO PLAY, POSSIBLY WON’T FINISH

Kittle was added to the injury report on Friday with a groin or hamstring injury, depending on who you believe. Kyle Shanahan said he expected Kittle to play, which Schefter confirms. However, since the injury was so late in the week, Kittle has not had much time to recover. An early exit is in the cards.

MARQUISE BROWN (BAL) LIKELY OUT

Brown had a slim chance to play despite not practicing, but Ian Rapoport says the dream is dead.

TYREEK HILL (KC) CLEARED TO RETURN

That said, he’s no sure thing to play. Schefter’s tweet regarding Hill had a much different tone. Schefter also notes that the Chiefs have a Thursday game coming up, so it may be wise to sit Hill for one more game.

RT LA’EL COLLINS (DAL) LIKELY IN, LT TYRON SMITH (DAL) LIKELY OUT

The Jets are a bottom-10 defense in terms of points allowed per game, so maybe the Cowboys can sneak by with just one of their starting tackles.

KENNY STILLS (HOU) PUSHING TO PLAY

Stills is having a good season, though it’s hard to argue with the success Houston had without him in Week 5. Rapoport thinks it will be another week, which may be best for both Houston and Stills long-term.
