BY ADAM GREENE

We geta potential Super Bowl LVIII preview on Sunday Night Football as the Miami Dolphins make the trip north to take on the defending NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Cris Collinsworth is so excited about this one, Mike Terico is already prepping for the purple thigh bruise from the inevitable speedy slide in.

This is the 16th all time meeting between the two franchises. The Dolphins lead the series 9-6 and have won their last two matchups. They last squared up on Dec. 1, 2019, with Miami taking a shootout win, 37-31. Ryan Fitzpatrick was 27 of 39 passing for 365 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the win. Patrick Laird scored a rushing TD. DeVante Parker hauled in seven passes for 159 yards and two scores. Mike Geiscki snatched five balls for 79 yards and a touchdown.

MIAMI DOLPHINS (5-1)

Miami toyed around with the Carolina Panthers for a quarter before putting the pedal to the metal, winning 42-21. Tua Tagovailoa went 21 of 31 passing for 262 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Raheem Mostert rushed 17 times for 115 yards and two scores. He added three catches for 17 yards and a TD. Salvon Ahmed had six carries for 23 yards and a TD. Tyreek Hill hauled in six receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Waddle grabbed seven balls for 51 yards and a TD. The defense sacked Bryce Young four times and held the Panthers to a total of 108 yards on the ground.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (5-1)

The Eagles took a tough loss at home, their first of the season, falling 20-14 to the New York Jets last Sunday. Jalen Hurts had maybe his worst game as a pro, going 28 of 45 passing for 280 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. He scrambled eight times for 47 yards and a score and was sacked twice. AJ Brown caught seven passes for 131 yards. D’Andre Swift rushed 10 times for 18 yards and caught eight passes for 40 yards and a TD. The defense held the Jets to 89 total yards on the ground and sacked Zach Wilson five times.

THE PICK

This one should be about as good as it gets. Hurts and Tagovailoa were teammates at Alabama before Tua got elevated to starter while Hurts packed his bags for Oklahoma. Now, both are NFL stars running two of the most potent offenses in the league. I’m going with Philly at home and because I don’t see them losing two in a row, but, man, this is not a game to be missed. Eagles 33, Dolphins 31
