Swift Favored To Be Halftime Show At Super Bowl 55

There was lots of talk about the Super Bowl 54 halftime show as Jennifer Lopez and Shakira put forth a dazzling performance. Now that we’ve hit the NFL offseason and the focus is starting to shift towards next year’s game, the odds have been posted on who’ll be next year’s act. Taylor Swift is the current favorite but is she the best bet on the board? Let’s take a closer look at the top options:

TAYLOR SWIFT
SUPER BOWL 55 HALFTIME ODDS: +500

Taylor Swift has opened as the favorite to perform at Super Bowl 55. It’s unclear why that’s the case but she’d definitely be a welcome sight in Tampa Bay. She’s a safe choice that crosses a number of genres, including country and pop. It would surely be a star-studded affair as she could bring out a number of her close friends in the industry.

ADELE
SUPER BOWL 55 HALFTIME ODDS: +800

Adele is among the favorites for next year but it seems like more of a longshot. While she has a lot of big hits, many of them are about love and heartbreak, which isn’t exactly the best fit for a Super Bowl. They might be looking for someone who delivers a little more energy.

DRAKE
SUPER BOWL 55 HALFTIME ODDS: +800

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Drake gets the nod because hip-hop hasn’t really had a full Super Bowl halftime show to themselves. We’ve seen the Black Eyed Peas, but they’re more pop, and Travis Scott did get on the stage but he shared the spotlight with Maroon 5. Drake is a safe foray into hip-hop because he also brings pop and R&B. He’d also be able to bring a lot of feature acts on stage like maybe Future, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and others.

JAY-Z
SUPER BOWL 55 HALFTIME ODDS: +900

Jay-Z is an interesting option because he’s signed a partnership with the NFL to help change their image. Part of that was him helping select the acts for this year’s halftime show, which were Lopez and his Roc Nation signee, Shakira. Jay-Z has a big enough catalog of music where he could easily be the choice for 2021. We’ve seen hip-hop featured before as Travis Scott was in the show just two years ago.

RIHANNA
SUPER BOWL 55 HALFTIME ODDS: +900

Jay-Z selecting himself might not be the best optics but someone like Rihanna could work. She’s also on his Roc Nation roster and also has a huge collection of hits that she can run through. As a surprise act, maybe she’ll bring on Jay-Z for a feature?

QUEEN
SUPER BOWL 55 HALFTIME ODDS: +1000

After the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction fiasco, the halftime show turned to a lot of safe choices like classic rock bands. We saw Tom Betty, Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones. A turn back to Queen is possible but it seems unlikely as pop and hip-hop are what dominate the radio waves these days.

FOO FIGHTERS
SUPER BOWL 55 HALFTIME ODDS: +1200

Betting the Foo Fighters feels like betting on Queen: rock just isn’t the flavor of the moment these days. It’s possible that they turn to rock after a number of concerned moms and dads complained about how Shakira and J-Lo flaunted it during Super Bowl 55. However, rock still seems like a longshot at this point.
