THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK 13: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS AT DALLAS COWBOYS

I’ve given the NFL schedule makers a lot of guff over the last few weeks. That’s right, guff. I’ve gone that far. I’ve guffed them. This schedule has been, if you’ll forgive the language, poppycock. Flapdoodle, to use the “F” word. The reason being that they’ve not only saddled us with horrible Prime Time Games for the most part, they’ve refused to flex out of those games for better contests scheduled for Sunday. Well, that is not the case this week as every single Prime Time contest has playoff implications starting on Thursday night when the Seattle Seahawks travel to the Lone Star State to take on the Dallas Cowboys.
As the Seahawks spent a good chunk of their history in the AFC, this will just be the 22nd all time meeting between the two franchises. Dallas leads the series 11-10, but lost their last matchup, 38-21 on Sep. 27, 2020. In the win, Russell Wilson (now riding with the Denver Broncos) was 27 of 40 passing for 316 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. Chris Carson (now out of the league) rushed 14 times for 64 yards. Tyler Lockett caught nine passes for 110 yards and three TDs.
Dak Prescott was 37 of 57 passing for 472 yards, three touchdowns and two picks in the losing effort. Ezekiel Elliott (now with the New England Patriots) carried the ball 14 times for 34 yards and a score. Amari Cooper (now with the Cleveland Browns) hauled in nine passes for 86 yards.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (6-5)
The Seahawks bandwagon has careened off the tracks, hurdled off the canyon bridge and is now rocketing to the river and rocks below. Last week they lost their second game in a row (in what will likely turn into a five-game losing streak) in a 31-13 beat down at the shovels of the San Francisco 49ers. Geno Smith was 18 of 27 passing for 180 yards, no touchdowns and a pick in the loss. He was sacked six times. The defense picked off Brock Purdy once and sacked him once. Now, obviously I’ve already given away my pick here in predicting a five-game losing streak for Seattle, but here’s who they have coming up after this — the 49ers again, then the Philadelphia Eagles, Now, you tell me they have a shot in any of those games.
DALLAS COWBOYS (8-3)
Dallas has done that thing it’s done all season where it blows out an inferior opponent and everyone pretends they’re on par with the Niners and Eagles. It’s ridiculous, but it’s happened multiple times this season, only for the Cowboys to actually play those two teams and lose both times. In fact, Dallas has not beaten a team with a winning record this year. Last week, they obliterated the Washington Commanders 45-10. Dak Prescott was 22 of 32 passing for 331 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the win. Tony Pollard rushed 13 times for 79 yards and a score. Brandin Cooks caught four passes for 72 yards and a TD. The defense sacked Sam Howell four times and picked him off once.
THE PICK
Well, Dallas should be able to, after this week, claim a victory over a team that had a winning record when they met up. Seattle probably won’t have one again for the rest of the year. Like the 49ers game last week, if the Seahawks keep this one close, it’ll say more bad things about the Cowboys than good things about Seattle. Cowboys 44, Seahawks 23
