Week 13 NFL Sunday Morning Tweet Storm Recap

Every Sunday morning, the NFL’s national reporters unload injury news and other tidbits to inform our gambling decisions. Here are some of the top news items and what they mean.

PLAYERS RULED OUT

Smith-Schuster is set to miss his second straight. Hilton’s return lasted all of one week and, with 10 days of rest, he’ll sit again. The bye week was not enough for Damien Williams to get right, so LeSean McCoy, Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson will man Kansas City’s backfield.

PLAYERS EXPECTED TO PLAY

The Eagles have two of their top receivers back. Tyreek Hill only needed the bye week to return to the lineup. The 49ers should have their full receiving corps available in their showdown with the Ravens.

DREW LOCK (DEN) TO MAKE NFL DEBUT

The rookie second rounder out of Missouri puts an end to the Brandon Allen era after returning from IR. He’s expected to be Denver’s starter for the rest of the season.

CHARGERS GET DERWIN JAMES AND ADRIAN PHILLIPS BACK

James was an All-Pro as a rookie but hasn’t played in his second season after preseason foot surgery. Phillips, also an All-Pro in 2018 as a special teamer, started the season as James’ replacement but went on IR after breaking his arm in Week 2. James and Phillips will look to spoil Drew Lock’s debut.

RUSSELL OKUNG (LAC) SET TO RETURN

Okung has had health issues all season, having appeared in just three games and playing 100 percent of the offensive snaps in one of them. Though questionable, he is expected to play.

KYLER MURRAY (ARI) WILL PLAY

Murray’s status was uncertain since he didn’t appear on the injury report until Friday with a hamstring injury. He appears to be fine.

VON MILLER (DEN) HAS A CHANCE TO PLAY

The three-time All-Pro is dealing with a knee injury. He has a sack in three of his last four games.

SEVEN PATRIOTS DEALING WITH ILLNESSES

Whatever the issue is, it caused the Patriots to quarantine the sick players in a second plane for their trip to Houston. Since they won’t play until Sunday night, we’ll have to wait to find out their status.

ZACH ERTZ (PHI) WILL PLAY

There was some worry he wouldn’t be available since the Eagles promoted a tight end from the practice squad, but he’ll be in uniform today. With Alshon Jeffery also returning, the Eagles should have more success on offense this week.

MATT BREIDA (SF) WILL SIT

ESPN’s Adam Schefter originally reported Breida would play, but Breida apparently aggravated the injury in pregame warmups. Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson should see expanded roles along with Tevin Coleman as the 49ers try to put an end to the Ravens’ winning streak.
