32. CHICAGO BEARS (4-10)
WEEK 15 RANK: 31
Chicago’s big cover over the Cowboys turned out to be little more than a mirage. With the lowest cover rate in the league, the Bears have two tough matchups left on the schedule: Kansas City and Minnesota.
31. CINCINNATI BENGALS (5-9)
WEEK 15 RANK: 26
The Bengals gave the Patriots a hard time for much longer than anyone could have reasonably expected. But they ended up losing by 21 and weren’t close to covering in the end. Just one more loss and they’ll lock up the top pick in the draft.
30. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (5-9)
WEEK 15 RANK: 32
It was a miracle cover considering they needed a fumble return touchdown on the final play of the game, but it still counts. They’ll move out of the bottom of our rankings, but not by much.
29. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (4-8-2)
WEEK 15 RANK: 28
So much for the Chargers looking rejuvenated after their big win over Jacksonville. They suffered what was easily their biggest defeat of the season at the hands of the Vikings. Next up is the Raiders, who just lost to that same Jacksonville team.
28. DETROIT LIONS (5-9)
WEEK 15 RANK: 23
At this point, things could hardly be worse for Detroit. After another ATS loss, they have one cover in their last nine games. David Blough faces his second career road start this week, and it will be in Denver.
27. NEW YORK JETS (5-9)
WEEK 15 RANK: 25
The Jets were completely overmatched on Thursday night, which showed in the fact that they failed to cover despite being 17-point underdogs. The Jets team that briefly had some fight in it is long gone. Their final two games will be against teams in the top five of these rankings.
26. CLEVELAND BROWNS (5-8-1)
WEEK 15 RANK: 22
Being a favorite means nothing to the Browns, who have now won as many games when favored as they’ve lost (five). That’s why it shouldn’t be surprising that they lost to the Cardinals by 14 as three-point favorites. They certainly won’t be favored this week when they host the Ravens.
25. OAKLAND RAIDERS (6-8)
WEEK 15 RANK: 21
It would have been nice to see the Raiders give Oakland a proper send-off. No such luck, as they failed to beat a Jacksonville team that has more or less been a free win over their last five games. The Raiders will look to put an end to their five-game ATS losing streak against the Chargers.
24. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (6-8)
WEEK 15 RANK: 30
The Jaguars had lost their previous five by at least 17, but no one told the Raiders. Despite being seven-point underdogs, the Jags still won by four. They’re currently 7.5-underdogs on the road against the giant-killing Falcons.
23. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (5-8-1)
WEEK 15 RANK: 29
It’s too little too late, but the Bucs are one of the hottest teams in the league. They’ve won four in a row and covered in three of those. Unfortunately, their wide receivers are dropping like flies. Mike Evans is already out and it appears Chris Godwin will join him. They’ll play Houston this week, which is the first team with a winning record they’ve faced since Week 11.
22. NEW YORK GIANTS (6-8)
WEEK 15 RANK: 27
The Giants have now covered twice in a row with Eli Manning at the helm. They also picked up their first win since Week 4. Daniel Jones could return this week, which would make sense considering the Giants have nothing to play for. They’ll face the Redskins on the road this week.
21. WASHINGTON REDSKINS (6-8)
WEEK 15 RANK: 19
Washington’s three-game cover streak is at an end. They did nearly take out the Eagles even though only Philadelphia had something to play for. They’ll host the Giants next week before closing the season in Dallas. They’re 1-3 ATS in division games this year.
20. CAROLINA PANTHERS (6-7-1)
WEEK 14 RANK: 19
Trailing Seattle 30-10 midway through the fourth quarter, the Panthers deserve some credit for getting a push. Still, they have just one cover since the first week of November. It’s unclear how rookie Will Grier will affect the offense in his first career start.
19. ATLANTA FALCONS (6-8)
WEEK 15 RANK: 24
The Falcons had the upset of the week yet again, this time facing the 49ers on the road. They’ve now won twice as double-digit underdogs this season. Next week, they’ll be favored by a touchdown against Jacksonville.
18. MIAMI DOLPHINS (7-6)
WEEK 15 RANK: 17
Miami is in the running for the first overall pick, but they’ve been much more competitive in the second half of the season. Even so, they couldn’t get a cover against the Giants despite a late touchdown. They’ll host another bottom-dweller this week when the Bengals come to town.
17. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (6-6-2)
WEEK 15 RANK: 14
The formerly first-place Colts lost their fourth in a row on Monday night and will miss the playoffs. What’s more, they weren’t even competitive, as they only avoided a shutout with a late-fourth quarter touchdown. They’ll host the Panthers this week in Will Grier’s first career start.
