16. HOUSTON TEXANS (4-4)
WEEK 8 RANK: 13
Deshaun Watson led the Texans to an impressive win over the Raiders, but it wasn’t enough for a cover. Houston is 3-1 ATS outside of Houston and they’re facing the Jaguars in London this week.
15. OAKLAND RAIDERS (4-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 17
The Raiders have covered in three of their last four and are set to be favored for the first time this season against the Lions. They’ll hope a looming Thursday night game doesn’t distract them.
14. DALLAS COWBOYS (4-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 16
The idle Cowboys luck into a two-spot jump despite not playing. They’ll play the Giants this week, which is fortunate because they’re 3-0 both straight-up and ATS against teams in their division.
13. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (4-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 12
The Steelers failed to cover for the first time since Mason Rudolph took over and it was the Dolphins who brought them down. Pittsburgh nearly pulled it off, winning by 13 as 14-point favorites even though they were trailing 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. They could be without James Conner in a home matchup with the Colts this week.
12. DETROIT LIONS (4-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 11
It was fun while it lasted, but the Lions are regressing to the mean after their second straight ATS loss. They’re currently underdogs against the Raiders, which is good news considering they’re 4-1 ATS as underdogs this season.
11. BUFFALO BILLS (4-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 10
The Bills are fresh off their worst performance of the season, losing to Philadelphia by 18 as one-point favorites. They’re now 0-3 ATS as home favorites. They’ll be home favorites again this week against the Redskins.
10. ARIZONA CARDINALS (5-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 9
The Cardinals had covered three straight before running into the New Orleans buzz saw. The addition of Kenyan Drake should help offset multiple injuries at running back.
9. CAROLINA PANTHERS (4-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 7
Carolina’s ATS win streak came to a brutal end in a 38-point loss to the 49ers. They’ll look to rebound in a home matchup with Tennessee. The Panthers are 2-0 ATS against the AFC South.
8. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (5-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 15
The Jags are 5-1 ATS against the AFC after an easy win over the Jets. This week they’re facing the Texans in London.
7. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (5-3)
WEEK 8 RANK: 5
Minnesota’s three-game cover streak ended as they beat the Redskins by 10 as 16.5-point favorites. They’ll face the Chiefs this week, but we won’t know the spread until we know the Chiefs’ quarterback will be.
6. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (4-2-1)
WEEK 8 RANK: 2
The Colts pulled out a win but failed to cover against Denver. Now that the Colts are getting healthier, they’ll face a Steelers team whose health is going in the opposite direction.
5. LOS ANGELES RAMS (6-2)
WEEK 8 RANK: 8
The Rams’ two ATS losses were ugly, but we can’t argue with a 75 percent cover rate. After taking the Bengals down in London, the Rams have the week off.
4. GREEN BAY PACKERS (6-2)
WEEK 8 RANK: 6
Though the Packers didn’t make easy work of the Chiefs as many expected, they still managed to cover. If they get another cover this week against the Chargers, they’ll be a perfect 4-0 ATS against the AFC West.
3. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (5-2)
WEEK 8 RANK: 4
Another week, another one of the 49ers’ trademark easy covers. We had to take them out of the top spot last week because of their ATS loss to the Redskins, but it wasn’t an alarming performance by any means. If the 49ers keep this up, they’ll regain their top spot in no time.
2. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (6-2)
WEEK 8 RANK: 3
Drew Brees returned and extended the Saints’ cover streak to six games. The Saints should have Brees and Alvin Kamara on hand after the bye when they host the Falcons.
1. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (6-2)
WEEK 8 RANK: 1
The Patriots pick up their fourth straight cover and it’s tough to imagine them making it look any easier. The easy part of the schedule is over, though. The Patriots face the Ravens this week. Though the Ravens are probably the best team the Patriots have faced this season, they’re toward the bottom of our ATS rankings. We may see New England in this spot for at least another week.
