Will Broadcast Mention Mostert Undrafted?

The NFL’s biggest game arrives next Sunday evening in Miami. It’s Super Bowl LIV, a matchup between the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers and the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs. The game will be televised in the United States by FOX, with Joe Buck doing the play by play and Troy Aikman providing color commentary. Let’s see what the broadcast might be inclined to mention… or omit… from its broadcast.

WILL THE BROADCAST MENTION THAT RAHEEM MOSTERT WAS UNDRAFTED?

NO -190
YES +145

There is a sound, solid argument to make that Mostert’s rise through the ranks as an undrafted player will be discussed on the air as he’s been one of the emerging stars on the team. He was so impressive in the NFC title game where he rushing for over 200 yards and compiled four total touchdowns that he will certainly make an appearance in this game. Typically, the broadcast loves to mention origin stories of players – especially those who have overcome all sorts of obstacles to be on the game’s biggest stage. Mostert has done exactly that, bouncing around many teams before finally get his shot this year.

WILL THE BROADCAST MENTION COLIN KAEPERNICK?

NO -450
YES +275

The fact of the matter is that the 49ers will be making their first Super Bowl appearance since Super Bowl XLVII in February of 2013 against the Baltimore Ravens. Their quarterback in that game was Colin Kaepernick and while FOX might not want to mention Colin Kaepernick because he’s a bit of a controversial figure, this is such a basic detail pertaining to the 49ers’ story in this game that it might be hard for Buck to completely ignore it.

Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with Kaepernick’s activism, he actually played a big role in the team’s previous success to get to the Super Bowl (back in 2013). That’s likely to come up at some point in the broadcast.

WILL A PLAYER OTHER THAN A QB TAKE A DIRECTIONAL SNAP?

YES -160
NO +120

It is very realistic to think that the Kansas City Chiefs will use a wildcat formation and find different ways to get the ball to Tyreek Hill, Damien Williams, and their other really fast skill position players. The Chiefs might not use this formation repeatedly, but of course, they only have to do this once for the prop to pay off for the “yes” bettors in the crowd. It’s a decent bet to take a chance on.

WILL THE BROADCAST MENTION IT HAS BEEN 15 YEARS BETWEEN ANDY REID SUPER BOWL APPEARANCES?

YES -250
NO +170

This seems like a slam dunk. How could someone not mention that Andy Reid’s previous Super Bowl came with the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX, back in February of 2005? That moment was 15 years ago, and as long as there is a time-related reference, this prop will pay out to “yes” bettors. This is the best bet to make of all the props.
