Alcaraz Favored but Nadal Looking for another title at Roland Garros

It’s been an era of dominance but Rafael Nadal’s reign as ‘King of Clay’ is coming to an end and
the 14-time French Open winner will seek his 15th, and final championship in what is likely his
last year on the ATP Tour. But 2024 may also see the passing of the torch as another Spaniard,
Carlos Alcaraz looks to take over the throne his fellow countryman has held for nearly two
decades.
Carlos Alcaraz (+170)
He is the best young talent on the planet, a recent winner at Indians Wells but Carlos Alcaraz
has never won the French Open nor has he appeared in a final. He was the top seed in 2023
but lost in the semifinal to eventual winner Novak Djokovic. The 20-year old looked a bit
sluggish in Melbourne bowing out in the quarters to Alexander Zverev. He is a deserving
favorite but at such short odds you may want to consider others, especially with the return of
Rafa.
Rafael Nadal (+700)
Speaking of Nadal, after missing last year’s tournament he is expected to play in his final
appearance at the event he has dominated. Even at 37-years old, he can still play on clay. His
overall record at the French Open is an astounding 112-3, and even with injuries you can’t count
out the Spaniard. He’s already confirmed 2024 may be the end of an iconic career and what
better way to go out than winning his 15th title at Roland Garros.
Novak Djokovic (+245)
Novak Djokovic has 3 French Open titles and has made the final in 7 of the last 12 tournaments.
Depending on the draw, he’ll likely need to defeat both Spanish stars to win a fourth
championship. At 36, the Joker is still playing at the highest level despite some recent losses.
While he was eliminated in the semifinal at the Aussie Open, it’s hard not to consider Djokovic
making a deep run in Paris.
LONGSHOT WITH A SHOT
Casper Ruud +1100
Could the third time finally be the charm for Casper Ruud? He’s made the final at Roland
Garros in back to back years only to be steamrolled by the two legends (Djokovic, Nadal)
without winning a set. But perhaps the experience will help this time around. And at +1600, the
value is definitely there, especially if he receives some help on his side of the draw.
