Here\nwe are. It\u2019s time to dig in and figure out, using our actual eyes,\njudgment and the performances put forth on the field to pick the guys\nthat actually could turn into franchise NFL quarterbacks. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s\na mantra I repeat a lot, but it\u2019s always important to reiterate,\nespecially if this is your first time reading a QB article from me.\nThere are 32 NFL franchises. There are not 32 NFL franchise\nquarterbacks. There aren\u2019t even 32 NFL starting caliber\nquarterbacks. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s\nthe hardest position in sports. And, frankly, I don\u2019t think a guy\ncan really be developed. If the 30th<\/sup> best QB in America\nstarts for your team, you\u2019re losing 13 games and booing the guy off\nthe field. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\ngood quarterback is born, not made. He can get better (or worse)\ncertainly, but you can\u2019t mold someone into a quarterback like you\ncan other positions. It just doesn\u2019t work that way. If it was\npossible, there would be more of them. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\nhistory bears it out that the guy that\u2019s out there in Year 2 as a\nstarter is pretty much the same dude that\u2019s slinging passes in Year\n10. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So\nwho are the potential franchise quarterbacks in this draft? \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s\nget the obvious guys out of the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.\nJOE BURROW, LSU<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019:\n76.3 completion percentage, 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, six\ninterceptions, 368 rush yards, five touchdowns, 6-4, 216 pounds<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\ndon\u2019t know what more people need to see out of Burrow to make him\nnot only the top quarterback in this draft, but the top player. Yes,\nChase Young is awesome and if you already have a quarterback, then\nabsolutely draft that guy. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But\nif you don\u2019t. Good God, how can you not look at Burrow\u2019s 2019\nfilm and not have your eyes bulge out of your head<\/a>? \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve\nseen reports, and even some pundits, trying to move another QB that\u2019s\nnot from Hawaii over him. There are even GMs that reportedly do the\nsame. Those general managers, if they really feel that way, should\nall be fired today. I have never seen an elite QB prospect like this\nin my lifetime. And the dude has the ring and the hardware to back it\nup. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\nI want you to notice about Burrow, outside of his ability to read a\ndefense, move in the pocket and put a ball on a dime, is the fact\nthat he is an absolute killer. In college football, especially, when\nrun lanes open up for QBs, they\u2019re supposed to take them. Why not\npick up 12-15 yards, line back up the sticks and go again. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burrow\nhas no interest in that. His pocket awareness (my\nNo. 2 most important QB attribute<\/a>) is so off the\ncharts that he foregoes the scramble for a (sometimes) long first\ndown when it\u2019s there to deliver an absolute killshot down the\nfield. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look\nat this<\/a>. There isn\u2019t a defender in the frame that\ncould tackle burrow for 20 yards if he took off. He doesn\u2019t even\nconsider it. He steps up, moves to the right, and sends a strike\ndownfield for a nearly 70-yard gain. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
