If\nthere was a case to be made for Joe Burrow (and there shouldn\u2019t\nbe), I\u2019ve made it. But there are still two more guys on my\npotential franchise quarterback list we need to talk about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.\nTUA TAGOVAILOA, ALABAMA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019:\n71.4 completion percentage, 2,840 yards, 33 touchdowns, three\ninterceptions, 23 rushes, 17 yards, two touchdowns, 6-1, 218 pounds<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again,\nno surprise here that Tua\u2019s at No. 2. And if someone is making an\nargument for Tagovailoa over Burrow, based on their performances over\nthe last two seasons, I\u2019ll at least listen. But nobody else is even\nin the mix. Again, if you\u2019re reading that your GM thinks a guy like\nJustin Herbert is in either of these guys\u2019 leagues, he should be\nloaded up in the trebuchet tomorrow and fired out of the building. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tagovailoa\ninjured his hip and it not only cost him the end of his season, but\nlikely kept Alabama out of the college football playoff. He\u2019s\nreportedly\nbeen cleared<\/a> and is 100 percent, so minus the poking\nand prodding that would surely come if we were all not smartly\nsocially isolating so as to protect the world from a Walking Dead\nstyle apocalypse, he\u2019s good to go. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tua\nchecks\nall the boxes required for an NFL quarterback<\/a> and he\u2019s\ndone it against NFL competition. Out of his 32 games played at\nAlabama, he faced off against NFL caliber defensive backs and\nlinebackers nearly every Saturday (not to mention College Football\nPlayoff games). That matters, because he put up those numbers, and\nthose championship performances against the same kind of talent he\u2019ll\nsee on Sundays in the NFL. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tagovailoa\nisn\u2019t a run first guy, or even second guy, but he\u2019s certainly\nwilling\nto take that gain when it\u2019s there<\/a> and he\u2019s got the\nathleticism to make a defense pay. He reminds me a lot of Russell\nWilson and he\u2019ll be a nightmare to defend specifically because of\nthat added dimension to his game. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But\nlike RW, he wants to put in the air and kill you with his arm, and\nthe guy can toss it into an Easter Basket from 50 yards away. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now,\nhe also (like Burrow) played with NFL talent around him, but that\u2019s\nnot a knock. The speed of the NFL game should not be an issue because\nhe\u2019s been playing at it for three seasons. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where\ndo I think he\u2019ll go? If I\u2019m tossing some cash on it (and\nyou can<\/a>), I say he lands with the Miami Dolphins with\nthe No. 5 overall pick. There\u2019s a chance the Detroit Lions could\ndecide that Matthew Stafford is no longer in their plans, but if they\nhave, they\u2019ve kept it way closer to the vest than any NFL team\nusually does. There\u2019s not been a peep about any possible Matt\nStafford trade or release this entire offseason. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nWashington Redskins are taking Chase Young and if Ron Rivera did\nwants to work in another QB besides Dwayne Haskins, he\u2019ll just\nbring in Cam Newton (and he might).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nope,\nunless the Los Angeles Chargers or Jacksonville Jaguars sell the farm\n(and toss away multiple first round picks) to jump Miami, Tua is\ntaking his talents to South Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
