They went a cumulative 26-2 on their way to the 2020 LCS Spring Split title, crushing an overmatched FlyQuest side in the finals. After such a dominant performance, you would think they would be closer to -200 to repeat as champions, but both Team Liquid and Team SoloMid made some moves in the offseason in an effort to challenge C9 for the title.

2020 LEAGUE OF LEGENDS LCS SUMMER SPLIT BETTING ODDS

CLOUD9 -147
TEAM LIQUID +267
TEAM SOLOMID +320
EVIL GENIUSES +951
FLYQUEST +2211
IMMORTALS +2526
100 THIEVES +2526
DIGNITAS +3577
GOLDEN GUARDIANS +5153
COUNTER LOGIC GAMING +7148

Not only was Cloud9 the best team in North America last season; every member of this squad was named a First Team All-Pro and Reapered was named the best coach of the split too. C9 finished a record seven games ahead of the next closest team in the regular season, and it was clear they were the cream of the crop for the entire three months.

Cloud9 were light years ahead of everyone else in terms of their gameplay, drafting, and strategy. They befuddled every team with pocket picks and were constantly placed in enviable positions during the draft as they clearly had a better read on the meta than anyone else. That was coupled with excellent play from Zven in the bottom lane and strong play from Nisqy in the mid lane to put this team on another level.

You can make the argument that the only player that is the best at his position in this region is Licorice. However, there is no question that Reapered is miles better than any other coach, and the sum of this team is greater than its parts. That will make them very difficult to beat.

Doublelift is still very talented, but his departure from Liquid might be just what the doctor ordered to shake this team out of its slump. Liquid won four straight league titles before completely collapsing in the Spring Split, and they failed to make the playoffs despite being a heavy odds-on favorite to win their fifth consecutive championship in January per the Esports betting odds.

This team will be much better now that Broxah has had a chance to fully integrate with the team, and Tactical showed some real potential in place of Doublelift last year. Jensen and CoreJJ are still among the best in the region at their position, and Impact is solid in the top lane. The presence of Broxah makes this team a real contender.

Nothing else has worked for TSM, so the organization decided to return to its roots by acquiring Doublelift. They were the best team in North America with Bjergsen in the mid lane and Doublelift in the bottom lane, but neither player is what they were a few years ago. Bjergsen still has some nice pocket picks, yet he doesn’t bowl over opposing mid laners as he used to in the past, and only time will tell whether Doublelift’s issues were solely motivation.

Those are just two of the five players on TSM though, and it’s hard to put too much faith in the other positions. Biofrost is decent, but not spectacular, in support, while Broken Blade has become a coinflip player in the top lane. Additionally, jungle is a huge wildcard as Spica will be making his LCS debut this summer.

Evil Geniuses made a splash by acquiring Huni, but there is a question of how much he will be able to play. The highly paid top laner is classified as an import player, and teams are only allowed to have two imports in their starting lineup. Both mid laners on this roster are imports, so that takes care of one spot, meaning that Deftly will have to play over Bang in the bottom lane for Huni to see action.

That doesn’t seem too likely to happen as Bang had an excellent Spring Split. He posted the second-best KDA in the region behind Zven, and he had very good chemistry with Zeyzal. There may be a few compositions where Bang is on the bench, but his prowess on highly prioritized champions like Varus and Aphelios will lead to him being the primary bottom laner.

Follow our BetOnline Twitter account for the latest sports news and betting odds, and stay tuned on the Instagram feed for more good information too.

Cloud9 put together the best season we’ve ever seen from a North American team in the Spring Split.
