Unfortunately, their first game against a good team, a 12-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints, led to a downward spiral which the team never really recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But, hey, that\u2019s not a bad thing, right? This was a good roster with a major head coaching deficiency that had finally become too much to overcome. After plenty of soul searching at the end of the season, owner Jerry Jones tossed Jason Garrett on the nearest ice flow and shoved him out to sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In spite of the disappointing season, some good things happened in Dallas. Dak Prescott solidified his position as one of the NFL\u2019s few franchise quarterbacks, completing 65.1 percent of his passes for 4,902 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 picks and Ezekiel Elliott became the first big money running back of the last half decade not to immediately regress and get injured after cashing in on a big deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of all the head coaching jobs available in the NFL, the Cowboys\u2019 was easily the best. They should have had their pick of coaches. How could they go wrong?<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2020 Projection:<\/strong> By hiring Mike McCarthy. That\u2019s how. Of all the stupid hires Jerry Jones could have made, this was the absolute worst. They would have been better off keeping Jason Garrett. This is a disaster and what makes it worse is that the Dallas roster is too good for the wheels to stay off two seasons in a row. The Cowboys could go 10-6 and lose in the first round of the playoffs and Jerry will claim it a success when, with the right head coach, this is a potential Super Bowl team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I feel sorry for the Cowboys players and their fanbase. Nobody deserves Mike McCarthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Projected 2020 Final Record:<\/strong> 10-6. As of right now, 10-14 wins pays at -155 as does over 9.5 wins<\/a>.
