And when you look at Shurmer’s history as a head coach in the league, all you can do is wonder how in the hell anyone on earth felt that was possible.

The Gaints opened the year 0-2 and future Hall of Famer Eli Manning (yep, he is) was sent to the bench. Rookie Daniel Jones turned in his Microsoft Surface tablet, picked up a football, and promptly won his first two starts over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins, then lost the next eight straight. Manning got into two more games, winning the final contest of his career, a 36-20 triumph over the tanking Miami Dolphins. Jones took back over, beat the Redskins for the second time, then lost the finale to the Philadelphia Eagles.

After the season, the Giants took their turn firing Shurmer as their head coach, the third NFL team to do so, though technically he was just the interim head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015.

2020 Projection: Here’s the problem. This team is not good. They have one star player, Saquon Barkley and a bunch of guys no one’s excited about. With a chance to make a new head coaching hire, they picked New England Patriots special teams coordinator Joe Judge, a guy that didn’t seem to be on anyone’s radar. Sure, Judge said the right things when they introduced him, but the Bill Belichick coaching tree has had plenty of rotten fruit drop from it.

When you look at their schedule, I don’t see a lot of wins. Frankly, they will be outmatched talent-wise by every team they face, including Washintgon. By the time they get the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, Joe Burrow will have most of an NFL season under his belt and could light New York up.

2020 Projected Win Total: 3-13. Teams like the Giants are hard to judge. I mean, they’ll be bad, sure, but how bad? They have an 0-16 schedule, but squads like the G-men will always win a game or two they shouldn’t before the year’s out. To me, this looks like one of the worst teams in football. As of today, 0-4 wins pays at +225 and under 6.5 victories pays at -140.
